Re: TD 229: One Hit Wonders?

Sorry to have missed this one, I had most of my answers typed out and didn't get a chance to go through and finalize them before the deadline. I just went through and calculated that I would have had my standard middle of the pack finish with about 40 points. Turns out scoring it that way isn't as m...

Re: TD 231: Brad Rutter's Final Jeopardies

11. I will generally rule AGAINST borderline answers. (For example, I would not accept “Fenrir Greyback” as was done in TD 223). Submit borderline answers at your own risk. If this is the case, then your questions had better be airtight. For instance, for #3, what constitutes a "country",...

No. It's 1/sqrt(x)
Nevermind, I see what I did. I had the answer right in my head, I just simplified it wrong.

Re: LL64: For the LLamas Among Us

I was bouncing between two answers for four questions yesterday, and had I not been given "cowpox" as a correct answer, I would've picked all four wrong. Fonda instead of Sutherland, Austin instead of Houston and 7-Up instead of Dr. Pepper. To be fair on the last one, I've never seen Dr. ...

Re: LL64: For the LLamas Among Us

Never thought about Elvis – would have helped to remember he was an only child after his twin was stillborn. Went with Johnny Cash instead, and got a bit of a shock in reading about his older brother's death. Salvaged an 8(5)-8(5) tie against KossoffM with a WAG on The Good Wife. I vaguely recalled...

Re: For the LLamas Among Us

Funny story... I always assumed tjconn was someone else! Well now I'm curious as to who you thought I was. But yeah, StevensTJ, Horizon D1. See you Day 18! Assumed you were Tom Conn, who lost to Dr. J in one of her many victories. Sorry! Well yes, I could see why. Others probably have too for that ...

Re: Thursday, February 12, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Did anyone catch the wording on the clue that had "urban planning" as an answer? I'm an urban planner by profession and have a Master's in it, but it was defined in such a way I had never heard before that I was racking my brain for something much more specific. I felt like an idiot when ...

Scores after 5 questions: 44. tjconn728: 30.029 Scores after 10 questions: 20. tjconn728: 30.029 It's amazing what five drops in a row will do for your ranking. I was impressed with myself that I had somehow managed to come up with an answer for each of the five "least popular" questions,...

Re: TD 228: Welcome to Williams

It looks to me that all those decimals are leftovers from an Excel scoring formula that Lieph forgot to cut out. I don't think they're actually part of the scores.

Incorrect (14): A. 2 - maybe you took the derivative of x^2 instead of the antiderivative? jjwaymee tjconn728 Yep! Considering that's the only one I could've gotten, it would have been worth 12 had I gotten it right anyway, and I had the right answer for what I thought I was solving for, I consider...

Re: For the LLamas Among Us

I've managed to attain 1 win and 3 ties in the Myths and Legends mini-league while scoring a grand total of 1 point so far the whole season. Darn, I wasted my first 2-correct day in Myths and Legends on a forfeit by my opponent. :) Isn't that the worst? I had my second ever 9(6) in the 50's...

And I thought my 3-3-1 on only 10 correct answers and 11 points was lucky.

Re: Which city is better for the interview?

I had the same question myself when I took the test in 2012. That year, they offered DC, Philadelphia, and New York. I live in Baltimore, but worked outside of DC at the time. I figured that people from Baltimore and south would largely choose DC, while people from northern New Jersey and northeast ...

What does BWA mean? Best wrong answer. The commissioner apparently goes through all the wrong answers and if there are ones that he finds particularly amusing, he awards them this honor. It's meaningless and subjective, but if you have no idea what the right answer is, you might as well try get a B...

Re: For the LLamas Among Us

The real problem is that the airlines double sell the space. Either don't allow the seats to recline or give enough space that it doesn't matter. If nothing else, I think this discussion has proven that the smith's use of the word "controversial" was accurate, though.
