Not surprisingly, Jeopardy! is being pre-empted in NYC at 7pm for coverage of the extremely sad news from Connecticut today.

Jeopardy! does not begin until 7:30 in my area, but Wheel of Fortune, which precedes it, is being preempted here also.

0/5 in movies and European Rulers. Not surprised at either — Pirates of the Carribean was the only one of those movies I'd heard of.

Abbreviations for $200, I had "Recommended daily… allotment? allowance? amount? antidisestablishmentarianism? Aracuan Bird?"

Antiques for $800 seemed like a 50/50 between elephant and walrus — and after elephant was negged, I had no idea what else it could possibly be.

Dow was an easy get since I live an hour from Midland.

I had no idea the two forms of "primer" were pronounced differently. Just couldn't put the pieces together on the next 3.

Bill O'Reilly was a surprising TS. In the same category, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was woefully overvalued, especially when spotted "Nevada" + "Hunter S. Thompson".

Shiloh is a Biblical name?!?

Thought for sure that Toon Time would be an easy 5/5, but then I blanked on Badenov and had NHO the next two.

Yeah, no guess here on FJ! Hawaii never entered my mind.

For the second time this week, both all sixty clues were read AND there was time for a full credit roll.

I laughed at the Opus question.

Another good game by Alistair. Instaget FJ! to end the week.

A fun game but I was stunned that no one knew Opus from "Bloom County." No Opus???

Did well on Civil War lit and famous roads, and European rulers as well. Crashed and burned (drowned?) on FJ. For some reason fixated on the West Coast --- Mt Hood? Mt. Ranier? Mt. Whitney? --- while overlooking a state, that, you know, is a freakin' island! Ouch.

Congrats to Alistair. Most impressive British victory since the Battle of Britain. (If he keeps on going, I'll be quickly running out of analogies...)

If anybody comes to this thread looking for tonight's game, it will be posted in the "For some unknown reason" thread in the first post.

Look for it about 9pm Eastern.

If I had 50 cents for every math question I got right, I'd have $6.30 by now.

I notice that there is a particular one you haven't used yet. Oh, about 200 years ago or so.

May I start with the obligatory "Go Miners!", since I grew up in El Paso and am still in the area.

I'm surprised that Queen Elizabeth didn't trigger a BMS from Alex, but then again, the only other possibility is still alive.

Managed to swing and miss with Washington in FJ (and therefore skunk the FJ's for the week  ), but at least I got the adjacent ocean right—I figured someplace on the Ring of Fire.

Overall unimpressive for me, and I don't think having a very busy day helps.

George Costanza must have recently joined the writing staff. That's two clues with "Moors" as a correct response in the last month. I know very, very little about the group of people that went by that name, but Wuthering Heights is much more up my alley.

The temptation would have been overwhelming to respond, "Who are the Moops, er, Moors."

My goodness me, what a day. So many friends have told me that watching me on J! restored some sanity and much-needed happiness to their day, and I'm really glad to have obliged.

I wasn't quite sure when the episode was going to air, but I knew the news would end at 7:30 and usually they'd run Patriots All Access through from 7 to 8. So I had the TV tuned just in case they un-preempted Jeopardy... and that's exactly what they did. So any of you in the Boston area who were waiting to see it at 2:07am... sorry, you missed your chance. See the other thread as and when it's posted.

And yes, I owe opusthepenguin a big apology. He makes that amazing clip show of my voice and I repay him by completely failing to come up with his name two days later. Sorry!

But honestly, tonight I barely want to talk about winning on a game show. Some things are worth far far more than that. (And yes, I told Thing 1 and Thing 2 that tonight.)

I can see a slight resemblance.

I think he is so upset that he can't even show his face here. I hope he is ok after that.
