When I saw the ex-Pats category immediately thought how cool it would be if it were about football but then laughed at the absurdity of that thought. A pleasant surprise.

A big LOL at a grapefruit sized meteor landing on Oahu. But, after ringing in it's certainly better than no answer.

Ailsa Craig is directly off Turnberry Golf Course where they periodically hold the British Open. During the telecast they show it constantly and mention the curling stones.

But I don't think seaborgium tutored Anne about wagering strategy. Not that it mattered, but that FJ was dreadful.

And like everyone else, I can't believe this guy is now an 8 time champ.

I've looked in the archive for contestants whose situations are most similar to Drew's (and mine). I'm going to put my comments in spoiler bars to reduce the clutter, just in case this isn't interesting to anyone other than me. Feel free to remove the spoiler bars in replies if you think it's interesting enough.

I was curious about the nature of the runs by players who have won 7 or more games. Ken Jennings and David Madden had close first games but had lock games their next three games. Several players have started their runs with a bang (for example, Dr. J.'s first two games were lock games--same for Larissa Kelly).

The player whose record is strikingly similar to Drew's so far is Dan Pawson. His first game was close, his next two games were competitive, and he won his sixth game with a betting scenario almost exactly like Drew's yesterday (17800-17000-2000, bet $799 on Aviation History). He had lock games in games 4, 5, and 8, but won game 7 with $200!

Incidentally, Patricia Crane was a one-game champion just before Dan and just after Cora Peck.

The person whose situation was most similar to mine was Ariane Helou. She and Paul Nelson were challengers (of Keith Whitener) and she also had a choice of wagering strategies--her wager was strategically sound but ended up giving Paul his first win. In both cases, we got FJ right but didn't bet enough for it to benefit us. (Paul won his fourth game by going low in a situation similar to mine.) I'd say that Drew's run so far is somewhere between Paul's and Dan's. ("So far" might be the operative words.)

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed in the near-lack of a TOM there. I was considering "Revolution #9" for a while because "9 weeks" was in the clue, figured if there was a TOM, that was the only one. However, I didn't think the song was *that* popular, nor *that* long. Went with Hey Jude because it's popular and long, but it isn't the only song that fulfils that requirement.

I just couldn't wake my brain up today. Either I was choking on right answers (I would've gotten all but $1000 in Stones, but couldn't spit any of them out), or just wasn't understanding the clue. I got only 3 in J!, all in Crossword Clues "S", and 5 in DJ! (three in Vowel, two in Everything).

Blah blah blah, long Beatles song. I read on TV Tropes that the coda to "Hey Jude" is something like 29 minutes of "na na na"s, so I'm going with that.

Also, I wonder why they gave "captains" and "admirals" when they wanted a singular "commodore".

I was much more awake at giving answers tonight, possibly because I was watching the show with my dad so I needed to be perky for my competition. Got the usual odd answer here and there but knocked my socks off when I pulled out Antigone. Read Oedipus a good four years ago now and couldn't retain alot. The only one I could remember was Antigone and yay for me it was the right answer. FJ! was an instaget. Came up with the answer after I read the part about it being a long song.

Drew continues his streak and tonight's win gives him the current lead for most wins of the season; however he is a few grand short of both Stephaine and Keith's winnings from their 7 wins. Will his streak continue and will he make it into the top 15 biggest Jeopardy! winners in regular games?

Hailstone was an embarrassing "I'll recognize it when I hear it" kind of thing. I was able to make a connection to the weather but couldn't get the word out.

FJ! was an assist for me today since I have a Beatles fan for a mother and she knows quite a lot about them. (I've yet to get anything on my own this week, but I go easy on myself on the weekly polls.)

Invasion of Poland was September 1939. That actually started WW2. The annexation of parts of Czechoslovakia was before that in 1938.

Part of the problem with Drew is that his wrong answers are so wildly off base. Very painful game to watch today.

However I was way off base in FJ. Tried to think of which songs would have spent the longest time at #1 and came up with "Yesterday".

Thrilled to see my namesake show up in a Jeopardy clue.
