Add to this list Cedric the Entertainer (how ironic ) replacing Meredith Vieira on "Millionaire".dhkendall wrote:This seems to be the way gameshows *are* going. Long time game show veteran (ie got his chops in that industry) Bob Barker gets replaced by *entertainer* Drew Carey. Long time game show veteran Richard Dawson gets replaced by *entertainer* Steve Harvey. Long time game show veteran (and Winnipeg native) Monty Hall gets replaced by *entertainer* Wayne Brady. I could go on, but I won't This definitely seems to be the case, and the way game shows are working now. I don't think even Jeopardy! will be safe from that.Budphrey wrote:Well, I for one hope they don't go the "celebrity" route.
As Millionaire apparently has.

With Wayne Brady doing "Let's Make a Deal" and Drew Carey hosting "The Price is Right," why not Greg ('The Smartest Man in the World") Proops for replacement "Jeopardy!" host? He's had quiz show experience, hosting UK program "Space Cadets" in the 1990s.

Ooh, I think the first suggestion I could get behind has been named. Yeah. When I bother to watch anymore, I still expect to hear Bob Barker introduced as host even though I know Drew Carey's had his spot for years.gamawire wrote:That's what I've always thought about Drew on TPIR - he was and is a decent choice for a replacement, but for some reason, he has never really made the show his own.StrangerCoug wrote:The reason I still don't like Drew Carey as host of TPIR that much is because he lacks the enthusiasm he had in Whose Line Is It Anyway?. (I'm not 100% sure if it's right to compare him to Bob Barker, but it does come to mind that when someone overbids on a showcase, Bob sounded genuinely sad about it. Drew simply goes in "oh, shucks" mode.)

I know the feeling. When I hear Johnny Gilbert say "THIS IS JEOPARDY!," I still expect it to be following by "Now entering the studio..."StrangerCoug wrote: Yeah. Just in the off chance you want the next host of Jeopardy! to be LeVar Burton, there is a petition:

I'd love to see Glenn Kagan replace Alex. I think someone mentioned this already.

Brad Rutter is currently pursuing acting and TV hosting, so I have no doubt he would do a sublime job at hosting. Another great choice would be Alton Brown, from Food Network. Funny, likeable, tall, and comedic.

I forgot about AB. He might actually be pretty good. He has the nice blend of sort of funny, but with some intellectual credibility.ahirbhairav wrote:Another great choice would be Alton Brown, from Food Network. Funny, likeable, tall, and comedic.

I still say Bob Harris would be a cool replacement.

Alton Brown is good at what he does but it's going to seem weird with a chef running the show.SpiffJumper227 wrote:I forgot about AB. He might actually be pretty good.
