Andy Richter is just right. A light touch, knows the big words, can ad lib in a pinch.

Or me, but that's not gonna happen.

My vote for Trebek successor would be Peter Sagal from NPR's wait wait don't tell me. He already has quiz show experience and a voice that's fun to listen to. Karl Cassell should be the announcer. Voicemail messages could be given out as consolation prizes.

Peter was already a contestant in 1988, he's probably not going to get it. Karl Cassell would be a nice announcer, but not until JG retires.

Doesn't mean he can't try again. Anyway, it's a long ways off till anything happens.

And then it was gone.

And it's going to stay gone unless it can be brought down to a reasonable size. Sheesh.

Hello everyone! Thanks for bringing my name into the conversation. No one is certain what will happen yet. I will keep you all posted and possibly require your help in campaigning for the position in due time.

Clue Crew might be more fun hat Alex's job. All that travel w/o the pressure. I've already voted for Todd A Crain. He was great on the warm-ups for the Watson games.

From the stories you've told, you might have better luck getting Alex to put you into Clue Crew.

I'd like to throw Harry Shearer's name into the discussion. He's erudite enough, and he's got the voice for it. Plus, his radio show has been canceled, so he's got some more free time than he used to.

Why not someone who would REALLY welcome our new computer overlords?

If they were going to hire Harry Shearer, they'd be better off hiring Kent Brockman instead.

I'm just going to say Christopher Guest so we have all of Spinal Tap making an appearance in this thread.

Well, excluding various short-lived drummers.

Hey, *there's* an idea! Have a Spın̈al Tap drummer be the host! At the end of each episode, dispose of the host in some bizarre, messy, yet entertaining way, and have a new host tomorrow. Repeat until show cancellation.

Harry Shearer is brilliant. For the record, Le Show is off KCRW airwaves in L.A., but it's continuing on the radio around the country and as a podcast.
