WHY am I so good at not putting the pieces together and/or forgetting facts at the wrong time?!?! Joseph Anton and ARCHbishop Desmond Tutu were right there, but I just couldn't see the forest for the trees. And I've known about the Honeymooners/Flintstones thing since I was in elementary school, but it just fell completely out of my head at some point.

I've got to stop watching J! so late at night. There's no reason I shouldn't have gotten BB. As for Argentina, well . . .

Monday I played off Fikkle Fame, but all I could guess was "Jim."
For Friday I said Tanzania (thinking of Kilimanjaro).

I might have known that the end of my 20-game FJ streak (breaking my personal record of 17) would come with a geography clue...maybe I should be happy that I wasn't even close...wrong continent and wrong country for Kilimanjaro, Kenya...
Never saw Tuesday, but it was an instaget here so I'm counting it!
Thanks again to Brian for the missing episodes!

No chance at Tutu and never heard of the Gleason/Flintstones thing. Knew the mountain, but like many others, said Chile.

Oops, for some reason didn't see the weights and measure question in the poll, so didn't check that box, but I got that one. Could have come up with Hull House, but not within the five seconds. Knew it was Aconcagua, but thought it was in Chile. No preemptions here in Seattle.

Not sure what is meant by "one of the games this week", as several of the daytime repeats were cancelled, but I can't recall if any of the regular games were or not. (Oh wait, yes, I can remember two were (I think one was cancelled and one was "joined in progress"). But more daytime repeats were moved/cancelled than regular shows, I'm sure.)

Not good. Went for character names, bridge builders, and the Gong Show, respectively.

On the Rushdie FJ I considered taking the authors' first names, but couldn't see either as a last name and tried to think of characters instead. I'd like to think I'd have written "Joseph Anton" down to have something while I thought, but no benefit of the doubt for me. On the Arch FJ I forgot the category, thought of Eero Saarinen (architect + Gateway Arch), and looked knowingly at my dad before Alex finished reading, which he took as a cue to say what he correctly thought it was. Not affording myself the benefit of the doubt here either. I considered Aconcagua, but wasn't sure where it was, so I decided to go with my first hunch of the U.S. (Had I picked the right mountain, I wouldn't have guessed it was in Argentina, so a little cold comfort there.)

Monday aired Tuesday. Tuesday aired Wednesday. Wednesday aired Thursday. Thursday didn't air (as far as I know). Friday aired today. Thanks, bpmod!

I said "Joseph Andre" on Monday because I misremembered Chekhov's first name!

I said "The Tonight Show" on Wednesday, but I *instantly* knew the answer as soon as Alex started saying that the character sounded like Jackie Gleason. I was familiar with the Honeymooners/Flintstones connection, but for some stupid reason, animated shows just wouldn't enter my head. (Also I would have guessed that the Flintstones premiered about four or five years later than 1960.)

On Thursday, I first wrote "Sonia Gandhi" but changed to "Benazir Bhutto" in time.

On Friday, I had "Tanzania". Looking it up afterwards, I was pleased that I at least remembered what country Kilimanjaro is in. If I had thought South America, I probably would have put either Chile or Peru, not Argentina.

:( Monday AND Friday preempted; completely lost Thursday's.

Thu - Apparently this is a well known factoid...I was in the right general area of the world at least. (Not gonna blame playing off the Archive for this one, it was all me.)

I don't think I lost any complete episodes, but most of Friday's first round was pre-empted, and I think part of Monday's or Tuesday's episode was pre-empted as well.

I was way off on the mountain--thought Mount Kenya was much taller than it is.

J! was preempted in our market - I could have been all green otherwise, knowing Aconcagua and stone.

Very unusual (in a good way!) week for me -- three clues where I had actually heard/read/memorized the specific facts beforehand (as opposed to just educatedly guessing at them): Rushdie pseudonym (newspaper), first to give birth in office [1], highest mountain outside of Asia (pretty sure I picked this up originally from the FJ! in this game http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=1588).

Missed Flintstones and puzzled out Arch -> Tutu (knowing Peace Prize <-> Tutu ahead of time).

Tuesday and Friday, I think, were the only games preempted in San Diego, so played these off the Archive (thanks, Archivists!).

ETA: I can't say for sure that I remember the specific days, only that I did have to play more than one off the Archive.

[1] I also have a first-sitting-US-governor-to-give-birth-while-in-office (2001) factoid memorized (but don't puzzle too long -- not a household [or Jeopardy!-hold] name):

Friday was pre-empted. What I do for the weekly poll if I miss an episode is look at the clue I missed, give myself at most 30 seconds, then click the spoiler box to see if I got it right. (As you can see, I didn't, and to answer the last poll question, I had the wrong mountain entirely—Mt. Fuji, which I know for a fact is in Japan. When I reread the clue, I changed the last crying face in this post to be an embarrassed face, since I ALSO know for a fact Japan is in Asia.) The remaining four episodes aired in full here.
