2013 Summer Hiatus Challenge -- Round 1, Day 6

Several years ago, it was requested that those with religious obligations that take them away from the Internet during the weekend have an opportunity to play the "Saturday set" early.

I understand how religious obligations can be, so I'm posting these early. I will generally post the Saturday set sometime Friday. If you prefer to wait until tomorrow to play these, that's fine too. But bear in mind the Instant Replay Thread may have spoilers.

Have a good weekend. See you Monday.

BANGERS

2: Better known as a singer, this “Velvet Fog” musician drummed for Benny Goodman and Chico Marx.

4: This band chose to disband in 1980 rather than replace recently-deceased drummer John Bonham.

6: Ironically, this drummer for ZZ Top is the only member of the band without one.

8: Though former Mouseketeer “Cubby” O'Brien filled in during live shows, she played drums during recording sessions with her brother on their “Ticket to Ride” album.

10: One of the two drummers featured in the “Jazz at the Philharmonic” drum battles of the early 1950's.

RHAPSODY IN BLUE

3: Completed in 1902, “Woman with Folded Arms” is typical of this artist's “blue period.”

6: In addition to a “Woman in Blue,” this artist painted a “Girl with a Pearl Earring” and a blue headband.

9: His “Blue Boy” bears a striking resemblance to Anthony Van Dyck's painting of a young King Charles II.

12: “Composition in Red, Yellow, and Blue” by this founder of De Stijl typified what he called “neo-plasticism.”

15: In 1911, this Russian known for abstract works published the “Blue Rider Almanac,” named for one of his best-known earlier paintings.
