What a horrible game.
Braille worked with the deaf.
Copenhagen in The Netherlands.
Washington tried to sell West Point to Major Andre.
Unable to spit out a random cabinet post
Alex saying Lee was Commander of the Confederate Army
Matthew goes for small value clues after missing on a big DD and little time left.
Did I miss anything else?
They did redeem themselves on their FJ wagering. Matthew bet small enough to stay above the others' MSBIW scores. Debbie bet to cover Sandy by a buck. Sandy did bet $1,000 more than she needed to, but she still was above Debbie's MSBIW.
I knew who they were going for on FJ. Unfortunately, I've never seen his name in print and wrote down Sensan. I might have gotten away with that in regular play, but I can't check the box on Mark's poll.

Classical Music
"Royal March of the Lion", "The Aquarium" & "The Aviary" are thematically related 1886 works from this man.
Who is Camille Saint-Saens? Matthew said Handel; Sandy said Sousa; Debbie said Offenbach.
Debbie Singer: $9,000-$6,601=$2,399
Sandy Howard: $7,800-$4,000=$3,800
Matthew Church: $5,400-$400=$5,000...now a 2-day champion with $29,000

Another hot-and-cold J! for me.
Drink for $600 gave me a good opportunity for a joke answer: "…and a Brandy this." "What is 'and Mr. Whiskers'?"
Boardwalk Empire was my only NHOI in TV. I hate it when they ask for shows on HBO or any other premium channel. I got only $400 and $800, blanking on Hell's Kitchen and
Cerium was my only miss in Elements.
Tree being in Rhyme for $1000 was an evil trap, what with "tree" also being in a category. I clammed on that one, and missed Cree entirely.
Tree flocking I learned from an old Garfield strip.
0/5 in Confederacy. I couldn't even figure out what $200 was asking for.
====
Ugh, such gabby clue selection in DJ!
What was the TOM for Christie on Novel Narrators for $400? I got only Cuckoo's Nest there.
0/5 in Letters.
Oath = cussword? Huh?
3/5 in 1939, missing Wayne and clamming on Of Mice of Men because the names didn't register in time.
What did Bell invent that had to do with the deaf?
====
Joke answer time again. Aviary + lion = Griffin. NHO Saint-Saens.

Sometimes we refer to a euphemistic cuss like "heck" or "darn" as a minced oath.
Also, don't know how I pulled Saint-Saens from the ether, but I did so.

Didn't even write anything down for FJ.

If I remember correctly, the clue used a female pronoun for the author, and also mentioned murder or mystery or crime.
(Also, if you just plain recognize the title character of Roger Ackroyd, obviously that's a huge help!)

And slow category naming by one of the players didn't help, particularly in the second round when it helped to leave four clues behind.

I liked this board, but yeah, this was not a good game.
I was pleasantly surprised that the film category that was in the DJ round was super easy.
All 3 DDs in this game were pretty easy. I was surprised that the contestants went 0/3.
Byron, Shelley, or Keats on the $2000 clue that was a poet? I guessed Byron.
FJ was an instant get, but I was not surprised that it was a triple stumper. This FJ clue brought back memories of Kevin Marshall's quarterfinal ToC game.

Right-o. Also, it's probably her third-best-known novel (after "Murder on the Orient Express" and "And Then There Were None"), and the twist is a classic.

Ah, that'd explain it. Christie's supposed to be the #1 mystery Pavlov, but given the books that my mom and I
have read, my mind is wired to go to Janet Evanovich, Sue Grafton, or Lillian Jackson Braun for "female mystery author" first.

Nailed FJ! due to Bugs Bunny (of all people/characters).

Show started off very well, until DJ! came and then it kind of went downhill from there.
Had nothing for FJ!

This could be a first in history, depending on when the other Canadian player for this week is playing, and/or if Matthew keeps winning. According to CBC (and the hometown howdies on Youtube), there is a contestant playing this week named John Choi who is from Vancouver. Not only is he from the same country, he is from the same province as the other Canadian contestant.
As a Canadian, this is very exciting to be a possible historic event for the 30th season, as two Canadian contestants have never played against each other before on Jeopardy!. And, unless Matthew or John weren't born in Canada, 3 of the 4 people on stage will have been born in Canada...
Does anyone happen to know if John is playing in tomorrow's game?

I missed FJ because I know one and only one fact about Camille Saint-Saens. Namely, that he's the guy who did Danse Macabre.

Did I hear that right? Did Alex really ask someone if they wanted to become a critique?
(Of course, she thinks Commander of the Army is a cabinet post, so who knows?)
Sussed out FJ relatively quickly after I realized all the pieces were animals.

There could be a game not yet in the archive that had two players from Canada in it. Maybe not likely, but possible to have happened at least once before.
