It makes sense to call people up in evenly matched groups, but at my audition I was never aware of other people's test scores, or even my own. How did you guys come up with this theory? Is it based on what you observed during the mock game, or were participants openly discussing scores? Just curious.
Observational talking to the people around me after the test. I knew I did very well (like 47/50). The guy beside me sounded like he did almost the same. The guy behind me said he thought he did quite poorly. Low and behold, I was in the first group with the guy beside me. The guy who thought he did poorly was the very last person called up in the very last group.
One thing we haven't thought about:

We know TV lies to us all the time, maybe they aren't scoring the tests at all, but they are scoring "us"; they can always score the tests later to look and see if someone figured out how to cheat on the online test.
I guess they could have the room bugged and listen to our conversations and see what they can learn from that but that's getting into conspiracy theory they faked the moon landing level stuff :p

But at that point in the proceedings, they haven't talked to us much, so how can they really score the potential contestants?

I think they're simply reading through our applications, searching for red flags (assuming, of course, we all truthfully answered that question about felonies), and highlights in our anecdotes.
They’re good at what they do, they know what to look for, and they’re watching from the minute you get to the room. Then there’s whatever is in your application.

So... on Tuesday, they had us waiting in a different room before they came to take our photos and escort us to the testing room. Not much time to observe before we were "on".

;)

My application had a list of 57 names attached to it and Maggie asked me about my in-person and on-line friendships with those past players and champions. I don't know if that will hurt or help. For those of you reading this, I did say how lovely it is that y'all have accepted this "wannabe" as part of the Family!

And I thought it might be trouble that my list grew from 2 to 7 people at my last audition!

After TCONA this year and next, I imagine that number would probably go up dramatically.

Even my 57 pales in comparison to the list that Ontario Quizzer must have attached to his application!

I had 72 on my list in 2015 (and at the time only one I’d met personally - and that was only a few weeks before), my list would probably be in the 90s now (with about half a dozen met). I really hope there’s a way to just shorten it by saying “I’m a member of the J! fan community” or something like that.

Speaking of OntarioQuizzer’s audition, this picture was posted on J!’s Facebook page from the Toronto auditions (and OQ’s way too down to earth and humble to share himself):

No joke, I sat in the chair to the left of Alex (camera right) at my audition. What a great photo!

I think a staged photo of him copying off his neighbor on the written test would be hilarious.

BEYOND COOL that Alex dropped in on the Toronto audition. (At the Chicago tryouts last March, we were thrilled just to view his filmed greeting.) Did he read any clues, or was he only there to grill you guys about your criminal records?

No questions from the host, just a Q&A while Maggie and Ryan scored our written tests.

While I was sitting in the same chair as Andy, Alex didn't sit down with us for photos.

But he shook hands with me on his way out, so I'm still wandering out among the stars somewhere....

I wonder if there will be a new online test soon. Under the new biennial system it seems as if there should have been one last month or this month. Unless they have decided to go back to an annual event - I am sure they have enough great contestants from the last two groups to fill up the next five years if they wanted to.

Well, Maggie herself has said that many times, even back in the days of the annual test. Perhaps under the new system they found an ever greater embarrassment of riches than they had expected.

Maggie mentioned something about next March at my audition; not sure if the same information went to the other 3 Toronto sessions.
