One dratted point away from unching again! Now that I know that it isn't a punch in the stomach, my whole goal is to unch. (I think I'm playing this game wrong.)

Site went Caboom? :)

(Yeah, I noticed the technical stuff earlier, since it also affected the Archive (on the same server as the board), it sounds like it was just some brief server problem that's nothing to worry about (unless you're the site owner, when that happens on my site, I always go into panic mode.)

I'm having trouble seeing some of Vermonter's posts in this thread, which is frustrating to say the least. Question 4, for instance, shows up when I search for posts by him, but when I click the link, it just takes me to the page, and the thread can't be seen.

Yeah I'm checking the results for the first time and got very confused when the thread seemed to skip the scoring on questions 2 and 3.

My thought process for the last one: "Nobody ever thinks of beryllium. I'll go with that." False. Lots of people apparently think of beryllium.

I seem to have a knack for picking the sheep on this contest. Six questions, four sheep, two near-sheep. I would have six fewer points if I had just taken the "11" for every question.

Yes, I was wondering that as well.

Question 5 - obviously, I've forgotten what little I knew about the periodic table.

Not sure what the glitch is in this thread, but to see questions 2 and 3, go to page 2 of the thread, and change the "20" at the end of the URL to "35", then scroll to the bottom of the page.

Or, click here, maybe: http://www.jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1949&start=35 .

Not sure why those posts are hiding, but there they are.

Question 7. MUSIC.

Post by Vermonter »

Question 7. MUSIC.

Ordered alphabetically, name one of the first 11 songs in the canon of The Beatles, as released on studio albums or on Anthology. Leading articles ("A", "An") do NOT count as part of the title for purposes of this question (so "A Hard Day's Night" won't work).

Alphabetically twelfth is ANY TIME AT ALL.

ETA: One of my original answers was not on a "studio album"; rather, it was on Anthology. "All Things Must Pass" was NOT the song in question, as it was a demo for a George Harrison song, and is not acceptable here.

----

PEANUT GALLERY: As I mentioned, I overestimated the Beatles knowledge in this group. A lot of people took 11, probably out of fear of hitting one of the big boys.

Yeah, that was my strategy too. Avatar. 'Nuff said.

I knew it! I was just about to take 11, but thought of "All You Need Is Love" at the last moment. I could have saved myself 4 points, although that would still have dropped me out of the top ten.

Well, I had a good run.

Question 8. POP CULTURE.

Post by Vermonter »

Name one of the 11 most-followed Twitter accounts for a human being as of March 31, 2014. (YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram fall inside the top 11 of all accounts, but are ineligible here.)

In twelfth is SHAKIRA (@shakira), who has 24.6 million followers.

----

PEANUT GALLERY: A tough pop-culture prompt with a few obscure responses (Cristiano Ronaldo? Britney? and who knew Katy Perry was #1?) I'm just glad none of the negs were close to the proper range.

----

Correct responses
