The official sports jeopardy app is cool. I have it for Android. It's pretty fun, but I've only played it a couple times. I should have known something like this was coming with the release of that app. I'm really excited about this, can't wait until they release casting details.

And, CrunchyTaco, I share your concerns, but that's really the only way (or at least the superior way) to do a play along that's computer-judged
The sports jeopardy app does allow a write-in mode. It works pretty well, although it's tough on the phone to answer in the time limit, especially if you get autocorrected to something different than what you intend.
1) I read the reviews of the iPad app and found that nearly all the reviews said the app crashes constantly. Not gonna download something that unstable.
2) Dan Patrick as host... I couldn't stand the guy on sports-talk radio (his opinions suck and his sense of humor is weaksauce), but he was great back in the day when he did SportsCenter with Keith Olbermann. And he has terrific diction and a great voice, almost certainly the smoothest and best in the sports world. He will have little trouble with the hosting duties as fas as handling the pace of the game and the many many many words that a Jeopardy! host says during a telecast.
However this sports Jeopardy! show works out, he could be absolutely terrific as the new host of the standard Jeopardy! whenever Alex finally decides to step down (not that he's slowing down or anything, he's still great but he's not a spring chicken).
I just can't explain how amazing this is. It was always a joke for me to tell people, "sadly, I'll never make it on Jeopardy... but if they ever had an all-sports version, I'd own it." And now, it's a reality... I CAN'T EVEN HANDLE THIS, YOU GUYS!!!
