Well, I would've bet on either Cheryl Tiegs or Cindy Crawford, so my "sheep" compromise seems OK in hindsight.

Whew. As big a sports fan as I am, Elway/Mantle were the only two I knew (not even sure who a lot of those people are), and I was sure they'd sheep. Let's see if makes a difference, or if the one I answered turns out to be even more wooly.

A wrong and a wrong with hedge. Oh well, could be going worse?
One more wrong answer coming up (I changed the fermion question from a right answer to a wrong one after submitting), then it's all down hill (or up hill? Which way does the saying go?). Provided that my semi certain answers actually hold up.

Am I the only one not surprised Vanya got a singleton? Upton was the only one I was sure of, but still hedged on it (I think).mujason wrote:1. Went back and forth between Paul Coffey and Neal Broten...Kevin B - you must be from Minnesota.

I also figured Mantle would sheep, but I had to use my drop on the fermion question (since I had absolutely no clue what that was), so there you go. Mantle was the only one I could come up with - so ashamed I didn't think of Elway, but that would have just made co-sheep.xxaaaxx wrote:Whew. Yep, same here. Curse of being a Yankee fan. Oh well, maybe I'm on the way to setting a record for highest score.gamawire wrote:I also figured Mantle would sheep, but I had to use my drop on the fermion question (since I had absolutely no clue what that was), so there you go. Ditto, although I had to use my DROP on the Valentine's Day clue, seeing as to how I've never heard of that movie. Makes it hard to answer questions about it.xxaaaxx wrote:Whew. The only cover girl I was sure of was Brinkley and I thought she would sheep after the recent Billy Joel TD.

Yeah, I was hoping that people would shy away from her after seeing a lot of Billy Joel last week. I stayed with Brinkley after considering Ireland, MacPherson and Porizkova. I wasn't positive Hunter was a multiple cover girl. I also thought about Carol Alt but, again, didn't know if she was a multiple.Bamaman wrote:The only cover girl I was sure of was Brinkley and I thought she would sheep after the recent Billy Joel TD.

Brinkley popped into my head before anyone else, but I moved away from her for similar reasons. I switched to Kathy Ireland, and it turns out that staying with Brinkley would've been better.Bamaman wrote:The only cover girl I was sure of was Brinkley and I thought she would sheep after the recent Billy Joel TD.

I'm sure that thought creeps into Billy Joel's mind at least once a day.skullturf wrote:it turns out that staying with Brinkley would've been better.

Re: TD 191: Miscellaneous III: Return of the Math and Lyrics
Wasn't 100% sure on an answer for either #1 or #2, but I was more certain that Mickey Mantle was #7 than I was Tyra Banks was a multiple covergirl, so I dropped Tyra and went with Mickey. Could've saved four points had I gone the other way, but with the exception of my "SHEEP" on the fermion question, I think I have pretty good answers for everything else, so I'll take it.

I lucked out on my Kevin Johnson pick. Happened to be reading an article a few weeks ago about what a horrible person he is (lots of accusations of financial and sexual misconduct), and it mentioned something about when the Suns retired his number 7. Glad that stuck with me!

Re: TD 191: Miscellaneous III: Return of the Math and Lyrics
Yvon Labre's number 7 is infamous among Washington Capitals fans like me. He was a great guy and one of the first captains of the team, but he's probably the worst player to ever get his number retired. 7 years, 334 games played, just 12 goals (albeit a defenseman), and a plus-minus of -89 with the team. Not deserving of number retiring.

Re: TD 191: Miscellaneous III: Return of the Math and Lyrics
I hate it when I go down the list and see "Aha! I'm not a sheep", then keep going down and down the list to see where I stand only to find out I'm wrong. I lived in the Boston area in the early 80s and at that time Ray Bourque wore the number 7. I knew his number was retired, but as I now know, the number 7 was previously Phil Esposito's number, and when they retired that, Bourque switched to the number 77.
I saw him play in the Stanley Cup finals, and saw that he wore 77 on the Colorado Avalanche, but I just assumed somebody there had the number 7 and he had to choose something different. Kinda like when Carlton Fisk went to the Chicago White Sox and changed his number from 27 to 72.
