CONTESTANT INTERVIEWS
Alex: FeiFei Jiang is originally from Kansas, but she interned at the international atomic energy commission In Vienna?
FeiFei: Yes. That's correct.
Alex: Doing what?
FeiFei: Uh, so I was an intern
in the media and press office,
Uh, during my, uh, the summer during, uh, my junior year. Between my junior and senior years of college. And, um, I was there. While I was there, um,
We, uh, let a documentary film team through a tour of, uh, one of the local nuclear facilities. Um, and, uh, I got to see a lot of cool things.
Alex: Okay. Good for you. I bet --I bet it was exciting.
Alex: Matt Weldy is a logistics coordinator from Texas who cuts his hair
twice a year.
Matt: Once a year most of the time, Alex.
Alex: Oh, really? And --but you don't do it.
Matt: No. We let kids at church camp do it.
Alex: And do they pay
for the privilege? Well, they give an offering.
Alex: Yeah? Do they make a mess of your hair? 'Cause it looks pretty good now. You got a lot of curls in there.
Matt: Well, we --we let 'em cut it just as much as it can go, and it goes really short.
Alex: Yeah? Okay. That sounds like fun, too. Not as much fun as being at the, uh, international nuclear agency in Vienna.
[ chuckles ]
Alex: Julia Collins is our champion. Played ice hockey once, right?
Julia: I did. When I was in grad school, I was recruited to be on a team with my classmates.
Alex: What position?
Julia: Uh, I was a defender.
Alex: Okay.
Julia: Left or right. Didn't matter. Uh, but we were in
the "D" league, so there was an "A," "B," and "C" league.
So we were --we were
not too professional.
Alex: How did your team do?
Julia: We never won a game.
There were several we didn't score any goals.
Alex: Did they have an "E" or "F" league?
Julia: No. We were the bottom of barrel. [ laughter ]
Alex: Okay. Something
to look forward to.
Julia: It was fun, though.
