3: A shark's skeleton is not made of bone but of this fibrous connective tissue often found in the joint of land animals.

6: The front end of this shark, one of the few that prefers to swim in schools, is shaped like a carpenter's tool.

9: The oil of this organ, which can comprise up to 30% of a shark's body, is sometimes used as a folk remedy for digestive and respiratory problems.

12: This shark, named by the Maori for their distinctive curved teeth, has been known to leap 25 feet out of the water.

15: Lamniformes, a group including Great White sharks, are also known by this name after their favorite food fish.
