37 out of 60.

Journalism: 2/5 Movie: 4/5 Letter: 2/5 Lefts: 3/5 Charity: 4/5 Info: 3/5
Exp: 3/5 Word: 4/5 Money: 3/5 (stupid answer: Franklin- $50) Celebrities: 3/5 History: 2/5 Presidents: 4/5

Lach trash: "gravity", "1st Amendment"

No clue for FJ- never heard of the book. Entertained a guess of "A Song of Myself", but that's WAY off.

What are the second and third place prizes? Alan has already topped (or at least matched) the guarantees for those.

I hope Neko Case makes it to the bonus questions, genuinely interested to see how many get that. Possibly the most obscure pop culture reference I've seen on a teen tournament, as she's a fairly adult artist to begin with and never hit it big in pop (and she's AWESOME). CURSE THEIR YANKEE CANDY

So mad I missed Fault. I read the book (great book) and there was plenty there to pull an answer from, but I went for HP & The Deathly Hallows, thinking hype + time would have made it work. I never went to an original novel, even with Green's popularity.

The buzzer mojo was surprising tonight.

I'm a fan, and I still didn't get it. I thought of her, but couldn't place the song. (I am, admittedly, far less familiar with her post-Blacklisted work.)

No prayer on FJ!
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Same for me on both counts. And Alex mispronounced her first name.

Not a clue on FJ! (and, uh, I kind of thought the answer was a memoir so I would never have ever thought of it) WAGed The Lovely Bones just to say something.

Jeff...what was your logic (if you recall) in betting what you did in this game? I'm not criticizing your bet, just wondering how you chose that amount.

I knew that I was horrible at lit, yet I felt that I might have had an inkling of a chance, so I bet so that if I got it wrong, I would have at least the minimum for third place.

I fall into the camp of never having heard of this book until the massive publicity around the movie release a couple of months ago. Seemed to make sense as an answer, took a bit to recall the title.

For FJ I guessed 'Death Be Not Proud" which was also a bestselling novel although I knew from the female name it was wrong.

The reader in Journalism $1000 said "won" like "Juan." Is that how it is said on the east coast? Out here there is no difference between "one" and "won."

I went 0/5 on the Information game making: Nation, Motif, Format, Notion & Train
While the writers used: Raft, Ant, Ontario, Motion, & Faint

I've seen 4/5 of the Recent Movies with Captain Phillips still sitting unwatched on my DVR since May 17th. Someday. Can the movie mavens here explain to me how makers of the The Butler managed to make such an average movie at best with so much star power, black history, presidential history, and made for movie moments? It should have been a better movie and it just didn't work.

Bestselling Books was screaming either Divergent or the correct response. The clue made the choice easy. To all of you who did not get it because the work was unknown to you I have little sympathy. The relevant thread where guesses of material likely to show up during this tournament has already been linked. The Green work was brought up in several posts.

(Finally I hit one with Frozen.)

To know about the the book and author, but still guess something else? Ouch.

There have been some TTs with amazing comebacks on Finals #2. Cooper has his work cut out for him to pull it off against Alan and Jeff who really tag-teamed him on the buzzer.

Ditto. In particular, I remember a TV news segment centering on Esther when the film came out. I wouldn't have gotten it at the time of taping, though.

Yeah, the taping date is definitely going to make this look like a way easier clue than it was. I got it wrong anyways, could only come up with Our Stars based on the movie promos but couldn't remember the first part of the title, but I would never have even heard of the book back in March.

I had never heard of that book (or movie). I love Jeff Xie's enthusiasm, like when he was celebrating getting a clue right, so he forgot to select the next clue...or listening intently to the audio clip of the song. I would have liked to see him go a little bigger on his Daily Double (which I wouldn't have gotten but Jeff got instantly). Jeff Xie has his work cut out for him in Day 2, let's see if he can beat Allan by more than 10000 in Day 2...a tall order!

Was "all of them" a potential response for the Maine clue? ;)

Wouldn't have gotten Final back in March. (Poll question, Mark?)

I haven't gotten into her solo work much, but I am a fan of the New Pornographers. Still I didn't get it. Did it seem to anyone else that the audio was really poor? It seemed too quiet and ended very abruptly.

Never heard of the FJ book.

I was a bit mad at myself for not recognizing her voice...I negged with Jenny Lewis. I'm a bit in the same boat...I have songs from her solo stuff, but I'm more familiar with TNP. Maybe we just had our volume turned up, but I thought the audio sounded alright. Well, at least enough to catch her voice.

Instaget on FJ. I admittedly was helped by my siblings precalling it, but I'm pretty sure the little I know about the book and movie (haven't seen/read it, but it's extremely popular with most of my family), along with the remembrance that it's the TT, would have carried me through just fine anyhow.

The audio seemed fine on my end. The song itself (Man) doesn't really lend itself to that shorter kind of snippet for voice clarity, but I thought it was okay. FWIW, Neko's music hasn't really tailed off. Her most recent solo work is exceptional.

That FJ gets more painful every time I think it over and see another angle to answer it. Beyond the subject matter, demographic, and recent popularity, it works plot wise on a couple different levels. Argh.

And also, you're not going to see many better live shows. What a voice that woman has.
