Ditto.
I wasn't familiar with the book, but was familiar with the recent movie of that title, and remember from reading the reviews that it was based upon a big bestseller in Young Adult literature. I spent the first 10 seconds thinking "what? huh? hmmm???" then realizing the death of the dedicatee might be tied to the recent movie where the young gal had the oxygen hose in all the promos. Then I spent the next 10 seconds making sure I phrased it right, because I kept corrupting it with the Shakespeare quote from Julius Caesar from which it was based. ("The fault... is not in our stars, but in ourselves.") but ultimately got it right.

Wouldn't have gotten Final back in March. (Poll question, Mark?)
Oh, right. I got it within 10 seconds last night, but I don't think I knew enough about it when this episode was filmed. (I haven't read it, but I know the basic plot outline thanks to capsule movie reviews.)

I definitely wouldn't have gotten it in March. I was only aware of the book when my wife and I were in Powell's Books in Portland in April and she bought it there. I was just the dork who had to tell her I knew the etymology of the title.

Didn't even know they had made it into a movie (I watch -- maybe -- 1 movie a year, so I pay no attention to them), so that was no help either.

I'm in the same boat. I'm going to be useless on darn near any clue referencing a movie from about the last decade.

I had no idea on FJ. I said Twilight just to put something out there.

I couldn't even tell that was a WOMAN singing. And I can't say that I've heard of Neko Case before.

I haven't seen it either (yet -- I'm sure it'll start airing on one of these movie channels soon enough), but the commercials were pretty much everywhere when they promoted it, and the young female lead always had her oxygen tube under her nose in the ads no matter where she was. So it kind of clicked.

You should listen to her. She's good.

Didn't get to see the episode. My affiliate showed some kind of telethon instead and moved it to the digital sub-channel, but my TiVo decided not to record it for me.

I think I would have had FJ (kind of surprised so many here hadn't heard of it - it was definitely a Thing earlier this year), but I caught a couple of words trying to find the clue in the thread and it put me in that frame of mind.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

Instaget FJ. I haven't read the book yet, but dh and I desperately needed a nap the day we arrived in NYC. We went to a movie theater a couple of blocks from Central Park and slept through The Fault in Our Stars. :)

I love Jeff's positive attitude, enthusiasm, and clear enjoyment of being in the tournament and in the Final. Go Jeff!
And I've definitely enjoyed Alan's personality and excellent play.

Super-instaget FJ!. I've read the book, which was terrific, and know the backstory of Esther. Haven't seen the movie yet but plan to soon.

Touring colleges today with Bamaboy and saw the book in a campus bookstore.

I actually watched a commercial the other day. First time in a couple of years. Apparently, Congress wants to take away my free TV. Upon doing some further research (rather than relying completely on what the commercial was telling me), I think I have concluded that free TV is perfectly safe. At least for now.

If I had 50 cents for every math question I got right, I'd have $6.30 by now.

The movie was heavily promoted with appearances by the stars, etc. on just about every program the does that sort of thing (Today, Good Morning America, late night shows), which is the way I heard about it.

That FJ gets more painful every time I think it over and see another angle to answer it. Beyond the subject matter, demographic, and recent popularity, it works plot wise on a couple different levels. Argh.
And also, you're not going to see many better live shows. What a voice that woman has.
Finally saw her in November. Absolute stunner of a voice live.

During the States category, all I could do was wonder what they were going to do about Australian maps like this:
