2014 Summer Hiatus Challenge -- Round 5, Day 2

Post by DadofTwins »

We'll give the R4D6 RQ 48 hours to play before we close it and name a Round 4 winner. Look for that in the top post tomorrow.

On with today's game.

APOLLO CALL SIGN ETYMOLOGY

2: This Apollo 11 command module was not named for a southern state capital or for an explorer, but for the cannon used to launch the moonship in a Jules Verne story.

4: The Apollo 15 command module and a space shuttle were both named this, after Captain Cook's flagship.

6: The all Air Force crew of Apollo 15 named their lunar lander this, after their Academy mascot.

8: Named by workers in the factory that built it, the command module on Apollo 12 shared its name with one of Joe Dimaggio's nicknames.

10: Apollo 14's lunar module oriented itself for its moon landing on this red star, the “rival of Mars,” for which the craft was named.

GOVERNMENTS IN EXILE

3: The government of Hakkon VII, exiled king of this country, spent World War II in exile in London.

6: This king and his Privy Council operated out of the Spanish Netherlands between 1649 and 1660.

9: One of the two Union states to have governments-in-exile admitted to the Confederacy during the Civil War.

12: The last ruler of the Pahlavi dynasty of this country was deposed and sent into exile in 1979.

15: He was head of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea from 1919 until 1925, then returned to lead South Korea during the war with the north.

You had me searching fruitlessly for R5D2. Could you change the subject title, please?

It's Tuesday. Shouldn't this be Round 5, Day 2? Or... maybe it's the SHC FROM THE FUTURE! (Maybe that's why it's so difficult.)
Spoiler
2: Raleigh
4: Endeavor
6: CLAM
8: CLAM (I'm sure the module wasn't called Mr. Coffee, but that would have been funny.)

Teems with quiet fun.
