Re: J! in the Media
Austin Rogers from Season 34 has a new podcast. Buzzy Cohen was a guest and on his second show and they had a very interesting discussion on Jeopardy preparation and strategy. At the end of the one and half hour show, they briefly talked about the upcoming team tournament. The podcast is called "A Lot To Learn with Austin Rogers" and it can be found on itunes, Acast and probably other podcasters such as Stitcher.

The famous Forrest Bounce. In 1985, during Jeopardy!’s second season, contestant Chuck Forrest deployed the strategy of randomly jumping from clue to clue rather than moving sequentially, as most players do. The idea is that the helter-skelter game-play confuses opponents and thus enables greater control of the board. The strategy worked well for Forrest, a five-time Jeopardy! champion and the winner of the 1986 Tournament of Champions.
That’s right. He jumped all over the board in an obvious attempt to throw off his opponents. It worked. They never adjusted. But, you may remember, Chuck didn’t win the championship that year. So go figure.
Yes and no. Yes, Chuck did not win the TOC in 1985 when he won his games. Chuck did win his TOC in 1986 though.

This L.A. Times article announcing that they've hired three new food writers specifically mentions that one of them, Lucas Peterson, is a J! champion.

One of my unused anecdotes mentioned the first time I went golfing and got a literally birdie; the ball veered off low left, startling a bird that had landed on the course. I know J! fed this story to the news media, because in one story in the Pioneer Press, I'm referred to as a "golfer", even though I've only picked up clubs one time since then.

It was an odd time of day to be on the course, and nobody else was there that day but my group. I teed off on the first hole, the ball went mostly sideways into some not too dense trees, I didn't think I'd find it so I hit another. When we got to the green on the 18th hole, my ball was inches from the cup. Of course I tapped it in, claimed a score of two for the day and decided to retire from golf as the greatest to ever play the game.
Total game show career losings = $171,522

Didn’t he claim a few holes in one, which would make his score higher?alietr wrote: ↑Mon Dec 10, 2018 10:35 amKim Jong Eun still has you beat.triviawayne wrote: ↑Mon Dec 10, 2018 10:13 am It was an odd time of day to be on the course, and nobody else was there that day but my group. Re: J! in the Media
December is a good time to play catch-up on shows. This is from the 11/28 episode of The Goldbergs.
The game is not in the Archive and I could not find the FJ! clue in Infinite FJ!s either after a quick scan. It should fit the 1980s time frame of the show though.

Highlights include a mention of a "secret" J! Contestants Facebook group and a group photo outside O'Brien's with many J! champs and board members. Sg knew how to make himself easy to spot.

One of the facts mentioned in the article is that 84,000 people took the online test last year. (I'm assuming that's 2018.)MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 1:32 pm Jackie Fuchs wrote an article about the J! experience: https://www.lamag.com/culturefiles/jack ... -jeopardy/

Correction: "more than 84,000" - which probably means between 84,000 and 85,000. About 4,000 auditioned, and about 10% of those made it on the show.

It was previously mentioned on the board in another thread. The latest issue of TV Guide had this about the second batch of episodes coming to Netflix on the 28th. Spoiler because image is oversized.

This article isn't exactly current, and it was linked in this thread at the time it was written, but it's worth sharing again because it's relevant to very current events.
Matt Jackson's mother is Amy Berman Jackson (the judge overseeing the Roger Stone case--the article's from 2015 so it doesn't make mention of that)
