Is it any wager ending in 69 that's verboten, or just $69 itself?

I don't think expecting to win is over confident, it's actually the way most winners think. You can't tell me the studs of the sports world go into a competition with the attitude "I think I can win". That's part of the reason why they are studs.OntarioQuizzer wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 10:20 am There's a big difference between "I think I can win" and "I expect to win"; chiefly, one is confident, the other is over-confident -- and the latter can set you up for grave disappointment, if not anger, if things do not go your way.
I've competed a lot with people (trivia or sports) that "think they can win". They never do.
The best way to compete is with the attitude "I expect to win", but without the need to tell others.

Re: J! in the Media
Can anyone find contact information for article author and challenger Charles Lane? The fact that he has the name and occupation of the other challenger (which we did not have) suggests he may have a tape with the J!-round clues. Also, he probably remembers his own occupation and hometown. Maybe even Randy Kaplan's.

Re: J! in the Media
Thanks everyone. He says there's a 25% chance he can find his tape, which might be at his mom's house, and which does contain the complete game, but he was also able to tell me what else he remembered about that day, including that returning champion Randy Kaplan was announced as a foreign currency trader.

Odd. I had no paywall. Regardless, I went and entered the last names (and then totally did not enter the occupation or location ... d'oh!)Robert K S wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 11:30 amCan you explain? (I hit paywall.)

Does anybody else find it hard to believe that Judge Judy reruns have been beating new Jeopardy! in the ratings for 40 weeks?

Nope. There's a reason she pulls down nearly $50M a year for that show.Robert K S wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 4:48 pm Does anybody else find it hard to believe that Judge Judy reruns have been beating new Jeopardy! in the ratings for 40 weeks?

Re: J! in the Media
Sadly, no. I don't think the rerun element has much to say about it however. If the shows are old enough to be forgotten or possibly never seen, then they are just choosing their comfort food. I used to never know or care if I watched a Jeopardy re-run until I made it appointment watching thanks to the DVR.Robert K S wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 4:48 pm Does anybody else find it hard to believe that Judge Judy reruns have been beating new Jeopardy! in the ratings for 40 weeks?
Please let me believe that people don't re-watch a Judge Judy they have seen recently . FWIW, I consider Wheel to be equally obnoxious to Judge Judy, but at least way above Dr. Phil or my 600 pound Life.
