New Jeopardy! contestants receive a questionnaire before heading to the studio. It begins: “Congratulations! You’re booked for the show! Now you are going to need some anecdotes for your interview segment with our host. Who knows how many interviews you’ll have: It could be from 1 to 74!”

That's supposedly taken from official Jeopardy material.
does this mean the show is now capping winning streaks at 74 games?
I'd like to think Ken would refrain from hiring Jeff Gillooly. I'd really like to.
then it wouldn't be the winning streak that is capped...
Total game show career losings = $171,522

Spoilers for the last few games here:

Article about contestant Danielle Maurer
She and her husband James Spencer did a lot of prep work. They used a white board and every day played multiple games using J-Archive, which provides detailed info on previous “Jeopardy” games. A friend mock hosted and Maurer competed with her husband to gain a sense of the rhythm of the game.

Those were probably all headlines for the same negative review, by Mike Duffy of the Detroit Free Press, which was syndicated by Knight-Ridder and appeared in numerous newspapers. I posted it in another thread a couple years ago.

For posterity, three more CBC audio segments with Mattea Roach. The links are to MP3s at Internet Archive Wayback Machine:

Cross Country Checkup, 2022-APR-24
This is a call-in show hosted by Ian Hanomansing. Barbara-Anne Eddy phones in to chat with Mattea about Alex Trebek, among other things. (Eddy has been discussed above in this thread and elsewhere on JBoard.) Later on in the show, Mattea comments about her post-show chat with other contestants on stage.

Cross Country Checkup, 2022-MAY-08
Mattea's second appearance on this call-in show. She mentions that her final tape-date was February 15; also discusses her preschool years and a little about FJ wagering but overall not as interesting as some of her other interviews.

Frontburner, 2022-MAY-11
Mattea mentions that her preparation mainly involved learning Pavlovs. She discusses what her expectations were, when she was on her way to L.A. In the last five minutes, she discusses her identity as a queer woman.

Who proofread this article?

"Thunderstorms that produce simultaneous tornadoes and flash flooding, known as “dual hazard” or “TORFF” events (TORFF is short for tornado and flash flooding) to meteorologists,..."

You literally told me what it stood for at the beginning of the sentence, why the need to spell it out again?

Paid by the word? (PBTW, which stands for "paid by the word.")

The fix may have been in, but Burton's comments about genuinely expecting to receive a call naming him permanent host after the lackluster performance he put in come across as disingenuous or delusional. Did he not watch the performances some of the other guest hosts gave? Burton may have had the requisite passion to host the show, but whereas candidates like Jennings and Rogers reviewed tape to prepare, Burton implied at the time that he went in without any intentional preparation, and if true, it showed. He treated the hosting job like it was a presentation job, just standing and reading lines, without a deep understanding of the mechanics of the game and what was required of the host to keep the game moving at full momentum. I was rooting for him, so it's tough to forgive him for not giving his go everything he could have given.

Google "jeopardy streaks" and look for the 6/24 hit. From there look for three vertical dots to the right. Click that and find cache. Do text only and you should be able to read it.
