What was the TOM for Boxing in Rules for $400? I didn't see any hints at all.
Pretty sure Marquess of Queensberry was given.
<10 archive hits. Hardly Pavlovian.

type in just queensberry into a search engine and see what comes up the most

I get a lot of hits for liederkranz, too; does that mean it's top box material now?

liederkranz does not come up when you type in queensberry to get suggestions

and for future reference...queensberry rules=boxing...retain it

The last hit I got was from 2006. I shouldn't have to dig that deep for something supposedly Pavlovian.

last hit for what? pavlovian isn't gauged by times on jeopardy...the trivia world is much bigger than jeopardy

Did you search QueensBURY or QueensBERRY? Bury is the intuitive spelling, but Berry is correct.

Marvel + claws = Wolverine, right? Wrong. NEGBAIT!!!!! Just as well, superheroes are boring as hell anyway.
The clue said it won an Oscar. That was huge newsl, never before has a superhero movie been considered highbrow enough to stand a chance. Oscar + superhero = Black Panther trumps the "claws" equation by a mile.

Then why put "Claws" in the clue, other than to serve as a red herring the size of Montana?

The Black Panther has a pretty sharp set of claws too. You can't say that just because Wolverine has claws, that it's a "red herring" to mention a different superhero that prominently uses his claws (and Black Panther is just as well known, in fact as of 2019, probably passing Wolverine in contemporary significance)

Any reason I should know what instrument the concertmaster plays? Could be anything. Odd when $400 is my only miss in a music category.
This is a joke, right? You're complaining that you don't know stuff that the rest of us seem to get, then you're asking why should you know stuff?
Won some of Ben Stein's money, some of Roger Lodge's, some of Chris Harrison's. None of Alex Trebek's.

It's nothing new. He's been starting posts with "Any reason I should know" for a while now.

TPH wrote:Those were some tough Beatles lyrics. "Drive My Car" seemed a bit much for $400 since it wasn't even a single (to be fair, the Beatles are one of the only acts where I would expect knowledge of even their album cuts to be commonplace). I was at least familiar with the ones I missed, but NHO "Lovely Rita".
There was a single that reached Billboard's number 1 two different times in 1981, which sampled Drive My Car, along with several other Beatles songs.
It also holds the record for the longest working title on a Billboard top 40 song.

So I used to make my own scorecards for playing along from home. Today I thought I'd resurrect that to see what happened.

So I seem to be stuck in another rut. Last two clues, I just stared blankly the entire 30 seconds because nothing sparked. Should I just accept this? How can I get better?

Can't speak for TPH, but I keep a notebook as well (just checks and X's with LT's in parentheses) for watching live. I find it less distracting to have a notebook in front of me but not constantly in my line of sight.

Every once in a while, I think everyone faces a clue where they simply don't know or are slow parsing it (the latter happened to me this past Monday). I wouldn't be too concerned, just keep practicing and reading.
Dumb college kid. Go BR!
