Wow, I could have sworn that Argentina won with Guillermo Vilas and Clerc back in the late '70s/early '80s. Such are the vagaries of memory.

Question 5 was a little confusing, just because the terminology used in the question was not in line with the typical standards used to categorize tall buildings. A "building" refers to a structure which includes usable floor space for at least fifty percent of its height; those are generally measured to their architectural tops, which does not include antennae like the one atop Willis Tower. A "tower" refers to any freestanding structure, regardless of usable floor space; those are generally measured to their tip (including antannae and flagpoles). The term "pinnacle" is also understood to be an architectural detail: the ornamentation atop the Abraj Al-Bait Tower in Mecca counts as a pinnacle, as it is an integral part of the structure, but Willis Tower's antenna (which was installed in 2000) does not. I still got the question wrong, because I thought Taipei 101 had an antenna atop its spire (it doesn't), but the fact that more people gave an incorrect response than a correct one (with answers that would be correct under the more conventional "architectural top" definition) suggests that question could have been better worded.

The addition of "use country names as they would have said them in 1936" to Question 6 was deliberately misleading. Every one of the possible answers has the same name in 2015 as they did in 1936; the added note could only serve to bait participants into giving an incorrect response they otherwise would not have. I'm glad that no one fell for the trick, but I don't feel like including it was in the spirit of these games.

I disagree. It's a common question when considering historical countries. If you don't address it at all, you might create timing issues if somebody asks the question at the last minute.

So I think it's best to address the question at the start. If you say, "It doesn't matter," then you've given away information about the answer set. If you say, "I don't care," when you ordinarily would care, you risk giving away meta-information about the answer set (you don't care because it doesn't matter). So I think the only reasonable approach is to rule as you would rule if it mattered.

When I first read the question, my first thought was "that last part gives away Czechoslovakia; don't say that, because it will be the sheep answer." Luckily, the people of this forum were savvy enough not to take that bait; Ihad I given that answer because the wording of the clue led me to it, I'd be mad. If I was leaning toward Czechoslovakia, and then asked for clarification whether it or its successors would both be considered valid responses, I would be wrong either way, but I would have come to that conclusion on my own.

Plus, the question wasn't referring to events over time. For example, asking which countries have won Olympic gold in men's ice hockey would require further clarification: the Soviet Union did before the Cold War and Czechoslovakia didn't, but the Czech Republic has won since the end of the Cold War and Russia hasn't. That the question refers to the 1936 Olympics only is explanation within itself; elaborating further created a red herring.

I took a gamble on the Davis Cup question. Thought that I heard something about Denmark a long time ago. Good to see I'm still in it.

I hate to point this out, but Dinara Safina did win a Grand Slam title in women's doubles at the 2007 U.S. Open. She's the only number-one singles player to win a Slam in doubles, but not singles. According to your own clarification, it's a wrong answer.

The worst part is, his identical twin is his doubles partner. You don't know one without knowing the other, yet only one person said Mike.

I almost went with Mike for that very reason, but, as you'll learn, it doesn't matter. You can't outthink this game. At least, I can't.
