You have Ed underwagering by $200.MTGcollegestudent wrote:Well...I kind of am saying that this was quite a weird way to start. I can kind of see the idea of Ed's wagering strategy. My guess is that he knew that if he covered Rook's wager, there was no way he could win. Ideally, he was right. That would have immediately gave Tara her 2nd win.
This is what would have happened:
Rook: 13,200 - 13,200 = 0
Ed: 17,200 - 9,001 = 8,199
Tara: 22,000 - 12,500 = 9,500

Hey now! There are some really good contestants this season, including Tony Hightower, who will be on Tuesday.Golf wrote:Kinda surprised three Jeopardy contestants wouldn't know anything about daytime Millionaire, even if it is now horrible.
I always have difficulty remembering the name of that Frost poem, so my response was "The Road Less Traveled."

Of course...I realized that right after I noticed it...but still...that would still have given Tara her 2nd win, like what I said.seaborgium wrote:You have Ed underwagering by $200.MTGcollegestudent wrote:Well...I kind of am saying that this was quite a weird way to start. Jeopardy! is like History. It's a mixed bag of categories that try to test your knowledge to see if you know or can recall answers that seem familiar to the viewer.

Coryat: $36,200
48 R/1 W; I too fell for Armstrong on the moon quote
DD: 2/3; 50/50/90 between catharsis and pathos
FJ: Instaget
LT: Who Wants To Be A Millionaire
Hot game to start the season. I felt bad for Rook, as he clearly knew his stuff. As I've mentioned before, I geek out when I get to give responses that are already in question form, so I was elated by the WWTBAM clue. Also, I don't know much about American poetry, but I loves me some "The Road Not Taken."

floridagator wrote:What a great come from behind for Ed. I already miss Tara.
Alex messed me up by being verbose about the contestant doubling his score to $2000. I thought that was his bit for pausing the game at the first break, so I skipped forward on my PVR and saw that it wasn't.
I already miss Tara, too. Very strong, knowledgeable player with a straight-ahead style. She didn't flinch when first one and then the other of her opponents came on strong. And to go into FJ with over $20,000 and not win the game is still relatively rare.
But Ed is likable and did a nice job to come from behind and make himself part of the contest. It'll be interesting to see how he does.

Hello all, this is Ed from tonight's show. I used to lurk around these boards for a bit, found it quite informative and entertaining.
Tara and Rook -- they are just fantastic players. There was a point around halfway through DJ! where the two of them were just leaving me in the dust, I think they both had around triple my score. Frustration was starting to set in for me because I was constantly getting beat on the buzzer, and I made it worse by then trying to ring in even earlier.
I have never seen an episode of General Hospital, so I have no idea how I got Luke and Laura.
I feel very fortunate to have escaped with a win.

But where does it fall on Dr Pritchard's greatness graph?goatman wrote:Kilmer's lit prof characterized Trees as "slight."
"Trees" (1913)
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.[
It was my thought, but I discounted it quickly for no other reason than that the full title is a lot to write in the time allotted, especially if the contestants have to spend any time thinking before beginning to write.dhkendall wrote:Just for the record, because I might forget by the time of Mark's poll, another "Stopping By Woods" here as well.

Add another to "The Road Less Traveled." Didn't realize that wasn't even the name.
Also surprised about the lack of WWTBAM knowledge from game show contestants. My mother who was watching with me immediately blurted out "Family Feud!" I believe she was mixing up her black comedians.

You just seem to be about the right age group to have heard our parents regularly talk about Luke and Laura. I have never watched it either, but some names are just linked forever in public consciousness.mrexley wrote:Hello all, this is Ed from tonight's show. Rook's voice was so smooth for a moment I thought he had been re-recorded like Trebek's was last season.
