OSCAR-WINNING WRITERS (2/3)
AMERICAN LAKES (4/5, including 1 correct Daily Double)
NAME THAT ELEMENT (3/5, including 1 missed Daily Double)
ECONOMICS (4/5)
RELEASE THE "OUND"S (4/4)
LOW COUNTRY TYPES (2/4)

THE RIGHTS & THE WRONGS
Dylan: 9 R (including 1 rebound), 1 W
Amanda: 7 R (including 1 DD), 0 W
Kyle: 3 R, 2 W (including 1 DD)

Clues revealed: 26
Triple Stumpers: 6
Double Jeopardy! Round Potential Lach Trash: $9,600

FIRST DOUBLE JEOPARDY! ROUND DAILY DOUBLE
Amanda snagged the next Daily Double on the 4th clue. Dylan had $4,800, Kyle had $200, and Amanda was at $6,000. Amanda wagered $4,000.

AMERICAN LAKES $800: This lake in Upstate New York was named in 1755 to honor the then-current British monarch

SECOND DOUBLE JEOPARDY! ROUND DAILY DOUBLE
It was Kyle who snatched up the last Daily Double of the game on the 11th clue. Dylan had $9,200, Kyle had $3,000, and Amanda was at $10,000. Kyle wagered $2,500.

NAME THAT ELEMENT $800: Thb 2 elements whose symbols are personal pronouns
(Kyle: What is... hydrogen and oxygen?)

TRIPLE STUMPERS IN THE DOUBLE JEOPARDY! ROUND
AMERICAN LAKES $2000: Due to its serpentine curves, this large reservoir in central Missouri has been called "the Magic Dragon"

NAME THAT ELEMENT $2000: We won't tell you the "tedious" tale of the discovery of this element, No. 107, named for a physicist
(Dylan: What is...)
(Alex: No. That's too bad.)

OSCAR-WINNING WRITERS $1600: 2003, original:
"Lost in Translation"

LOW COUNTRY TYPES $2000: 1 month older than Anne Frank, this actress survived Nazi-occupied Holland & could not bring herself to portray Anne

LOW COUNTRY TYPES $1200: Rembrandt was one of these, & his painting was featured on the box of the cigars of the same name
(Alex: We have less than a minute to go, now, Dylan.)

ECONOMICS $800: Including currency & other liquid assets, it's the total amount of cash available in a given economy

SCORES ENTERING FINAL JEOPARDY!
Amanda: $15,200
Dylan: $13,200
Kyle: $1,300

FINAL JEOPARDY! CATEGORY
FOREIGN PHRASES

VENUSIAN MONOLOGUES/MARTIAN CHRONICLES
Four-fifths for first place. Shore's Conjecture.
Amanda: Wager $11,201 to cover Dylan, but no more than $12,599 so as not to fall behind Kyle's doubled score. If you're a fan of shoretegic wagering, you might risk $8,601.
Dylan: Since you're within 4/5ths of Amanda's score, you should wager between $4,001 (venusian) and $9,200 (martian), beating Amanda's maximum safe bet of the difference between your scores.
Kyle: Too bad for you, Kyle, your score is less than Amanda's score minus Dylan's score. Unless they both commit an egregious wagering error, you've no hope of moving into first place. Wager as much as you desire, but remember, you'll have better chances of advancing to second place if you have a larger sum left over on a Triple Stumper.

FINAL JEOPARDY! CLUE
This French phrase refers to part of the Order of the Holy Ghost; its knights became known for serving superb dinners

FINAL SCORES
Kyle: $1,300 - $1,300 = $0 (What is Michelin?) (3rd place)
Dylan: $13,200 - $8,000 = $5,200 (What is espirit de corps?) (24600-day champion: $5,200)
Amanda: $15,200 - $11,201 = $3,999 (What is San Sprit) (2nd place)

Total Potential Lach Trash: $14,000

GAME DYNAMICS
Image

CORYAT SCORES
Dylan: $13,200, 22 R, 4 W
Amanda: $11,200, 15 R (including 2 DDs), 2 W
Kyle: $3,800, 5 R, 3 W (including 1 DD)
Combined Coryat: $28,200

BATTING AVERAGES
Dylan: 22/58 = .379
Amanda: 15/60 = .250
Kyle: 5/59 = .085
Team: 42/63 = .667

MISCELLANEOUS INTERESTING CLUES
THE STATE U's MAIN CAMPUS $1000: The University of Kentucky
(Amanda: Oh... what is Frankfort?)

LET'S HAVE EGGS $1000: The 1920s discovery of fossil eggs in this central Asian desert proved that at least some dinosaurs laid 'em
[Alex pronounces the last word of the clue as "them".]

LET'S HAVE EGGS $400: (Jimmy of the Clue Crew shows a nest of eggs on the monitor.) Some birds, like this wild American whiskey symbol, nest on the ground & lay pointed eggs so they roll in a circle, not away from the nest

3-LETTER WORDS $400: In Scrabble you get at least 12 points for this slang synonym of pimple
[The end-of-round signal sounds.]

RELEASE THE "OUND"S $1200: To jump-start a fast break, release a quick outlet pass after a defensive one of these
(Kyle: [Stands, stares, shakes head])

[The end-of-round signal sounds.]

It looks like my local feed is totally preempted by the Pope's Mass at St. Pat's. If anyone would be willing to pm me a likely way to view tonight's game is be grateful.

Played the FJ off of fikkle fame and all I can say is...lol. If this is a commonly known bit of trivia, I somehow managed to miss it all these years.

I had it half right -- I went with sacre bleu. Wasn't ever going to make the jump to cordon, though.

This was a good game up until FJ; Amanda and Dylan did well. Congrats to Dylan on another win. I had 38 correct responses including five triple stumpers: military service, snake, Ringo Starr (I knew it before I heard the contestants miss it), Dutch master, and money supply. I also got the missed DD of iodine and helium. Didn't get FJ.

A smart FJ wager turns a loss into a win. Sweet.

Still trying to figure out how someone from Missouri can miss Lake of the Ozarks.

40R no chance on FJ. LT: universal conscription (military service); Roc; brown tree Snake (not frog!); Bohrium #107; Dutch masters and get on missed DD; I & He = personal pronoun elements.

Was thinking knights Templar... how does that fit food... o weren't they persecuted in France? DOH!

Dylan continues to win ugly.
It seemed like a lot of misses and TS but the two outer lecturns still finished DJ with decent scores.
I groaned as all three players took a wild guess on The Ringo song. I had it from the get go. Also got Dutch Masters.

Had no idea on the FJ. I would have wrote down Buffet just to have something.

Lach Trash: roc, Lake of the Ozarks.

Can we just clear a freaking board already? Sheesh, Wheel is getting better at time management and J! is getting worse.

4/4 in 3-letter Words.

I thought voodoo economics was tough for $400. Probably one of those "you had to be there" things.

Could've run Lakes, but I blanked on both George and Tahoe.

No guess on FJ!

Dylan got to be a champ because Natalie made a bad wager from second. You'd think he could've paid it forward in this game.

What a lame FJ.

Nah, it's been cited fairly often in the media as of late, particularly with respect to Republican presidential wannabes.

Midway through DJ I made the mistake of telling my dad I was 8/8 on FJs so far this season, with no wood in sight.

I got FJ, but I thought the whole "order of the Holy Ghost" thing was a prime bit of misdirection. I kept thinking about "Sanctu Spiritu" and how it might relate to food. But in the end I just thought "French phrase, good food, I'll WAG Cordon Bleu."
Teems with quiet fun.

30 right.

Eggs (2), Chapter (4), Main (5), Per (1), 3-Letter (2), Rhyme (4)
Oscar (1), Lake (1), Element (4), Eco (2), "Ound" (3), Type (1)

Lach Trash: "bohrium"

Only thought of the right answer after Alex mentioned medals, etc. after the 30 seconds.

poll request seen

Aw, those players are no fun. Arrr-gon was an easy ad lib to do without taking anything away from the game. Of course the players did enough taking away from the game as is with so many clues unrevealed.

"Tedium" as the TOM to get to Bohrium? Yeah, not gonna happen. Hope the writers got a good laugh in the meeting room in anticipation of sending that one to the players.

Credit to Ben Stein for Laffer curve also from that movie whenever that is used on J! Voodoo was definitely a first box clue.

*********

Even with all the extra words from Alex I was no closer to solving the FJ! clue after time was up. Seeing esprit de corps had me thinking perhaps that was right. If the clue had been multiple choice it still may have been a miss. I have no doubt it will make the cut for toughest poll of the first third of the season and I may end up checking it.

Not wanting a blank paper I wrote nom de plume to have something. The clue had sink the leader written all over it and Dylan took advantage of his game position to get the win.

And how did Amanda get herself in first position? By finding 2 DDs and converting them to +5800 while Dylan found none of the Daily Doubles. Her 4000 DD wager was a strong tip off that there would be no monkey business with her FJ! wager, so I strongly suspected Dylan had the game won seconds after I saw the FJ! clue.
