Much more appropriate than a story about being dressed in "a fabulous dress".
As long as we're removing ambiguity from our statements, that should read "*MY* story about being dressed in a 'fabulous dress'". And I wouldn't meet my wife for another 18 years.

David, David, David. Remember your phrasing. That's "my story of meeting my wife dressed in my Groucho costume." (For the next part, I'd recommend you have a cigar handy.)
"How she got in my Groucho costume, I'll never know!"

Right?
Right! David points out that his could be taken that way as well, though. His struck me as less ambiguous, but may subtle's the way to go.

The uncontrollable factor is whether Alex will fail to set up the joke by paraphrasing what's on the card, or read the card correctly but grab the joke for himself. Of course, if he tries to grab the joke for himself, it's likely he'll pause a moment between setup and punchline. David could grab that moment to deliver the punchline himself. But he might find himself talking over Alex to do it. And, really, the brief pause makes the joke more effective, so Dave would have to be willing to torpedo the joke somewhat just so he gets to tell it. If only he could talk to Alex ahead of time and set the thing up....

All of this reminds me of another joke:

Timing.

This is because precious few of them are comedians. (Bob Harris is the notable exception that comes to mind immediately. Ken, while not being a comedian, has good comedic timing). Having performed standup off and on over the period of 20 years (currently probably permanently "off", had fun, but moving on), I can at least make an interview segment entertaining.

I am currently swimming in the pool, but hopefully we'll get to change that designation soon.

I was wondering how those labels worked! Can you change me to Jeopardy Champion? Air dates: October 20-21, 2011. Thanks so much!

Was on the old board too - wanted to keep a low profile until the ToC field was announced. I'll probably be posting more now that my qualification is out of the bag.

I was once introduced as a participant in a ToC game, but have no memory of taking part in said game as more than a spectator. Does that count?

Dick Van Patten said "If you label me, you negate me." Please negate me. "Jeopardy TOC'er" I'd prefer no apostrophe, but will retain it as a show of solidarity with my compadres.

Is TOC'er pronounced tocker or tosser?

The mountain comes to Mohammed (I've banished the apostrophe for all).
