Instaget for me as soon as Alex said he was in MASH. So I was left with my guess of Pacino, but I knew that was wrong.
A huge win for Tim, but a huge risk as he had Chris' MSBIW locked out and Katie locked out.
Congrats to cbec on his run and doing the board well.

Chris' second DD wager made little sense to me.
If you're gonna go big, at least cover 2nd.

Tough break, Chris, but that was one hell of a swan song.
Had Duvall pretty quickly and couldn't come up with anyone better.

Wow! This was among the best games this season. Fantastic performance by Tim; congrats to him. I had 40 correct responses including these triple stumpers: Jack, pots/stop, and weak force. I also got FJ.

What a game! Well played, good run Chris ... you clearly knew you were gonna need those big bets to keep pace with these two. I can see any of the three of them making a good run. I didn't come up with Duvall in time, I was all over the map trying to remember who else was in Apocalypse Now other than Brando.
DKH, you jinxed him! :p

I got FJ correct this time!
Watching Godfather and half of Apocalypse Now sure helped. Marlon Brando popped into mind first but I know he's not alive.

That was awesome. Great run Chris - sorry to see you go. Congrats to Tim on a well-earned victory!
I fell into the Brando trap too. I was pretty sure he was dead, but couldn't come up with the consigliere in time.

I had Duvall instantly and felt good, and then talked myself into thinking Brando was a better answer, forgetting about the "alive" part.
Killer game with huge scores - nice job, Chris.

Re: Wednesday, February 17, 2016 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
"I love the smell of napalm in the morning... it smells like... victory. Someday, this war will be over."
Brando instantly pops to mind but of course he's deceased. Then I see Duvall in yellow cowboy hat; "Soldier, you either surf, or fight!"
48R for goats. LT: Weak Force > Fusion (counterintuitive but the strong force is really, really strong!); Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jump over a candlestick!
Went 5/5 in Boston, 4 ltr science, countries.

What an exciting game! Wowzers. SO proud of Chris's run and excited to see what's next for Tim!
BTW, sadly, I didn't see the word "alive." Were it not for that, I could have been a contender.

35 right.
Boston (5), Syfy (5), Mirror (3), Folks (2), Meal (3), Birthday (3)
Eagle (2), Science (1), Celeb (4), Countries (4), Spears (3), "AE" (0)
No Lach Trash.
Pacino? No Apocalypse Now. Brando? Dead. Oh yeah, it's Tom Hagen/Bill Kilgore- smells like victory!
Good run, Chris- gutsy and successful DD's and a multi-day champion.

Re: Wednesday, February 17, 2016 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
This was one of the best Jeopardy! matches I've seen in forever! Congrats to all competitors.
Chris had among the best uses of Daily Doubles I've ever seen
Tim had among the best performances by a pre-FJ second-place player I've ever seen
Katie had a very very strong performance by a pre-FJ third-place player.
As for FJ, sometimes my unconscious mind is smarter than my conscious mind. It all happened so fast that I can't say for sure that I consciously noticed that the actor had to be currently living, but Robert Duvall leaped into mind right away and Brando didn't occur to me until later.

Not sure what the other 4 would be, though (it said he was in 6). I'm guessing Godfather II and, ummm ... To Kill a Mockingbird? Yeah, I got nothing else.boson wrote:That was awesome. Great run Chris - sorry to see you go. Congrats to Tim on a well-earned victory!
