Alex: Evan Sandman is the first player we introduced on our program today, and every year, I understand, Evan, you and your wife get involved in a special kind of kidnapping.

Evan: Yes, we call them birthday kidnappings. We plan birthday vacations for each other without telling--my--my wife Caroline and I plan birthday vacations without telling each other where we're gonna go, and, um, we leave it up until the last possible minute to let each other know, and we go and have an amazing time.

Alex: Gina, over to you now. Gina Harris from Aloha, Oregon. Quite often I have wondered what happens to the greyhounds at tracks in Florida after their racing careers are over. Well, I'm about to find out, thanks to you.

Gina: Yes, there's a variety of different adoption organizations for them. Uh, my mother started volunteering with one after we accidentally acquired a greyhound in the late '80s, and so there's always more that need homes. We're on our 14th and 15th now.

Alex: Wow. See, I'd train 'em to go out and get the newspaper, and it would be back in a flash.

Gina: They would.

Alex: Yeah.

Sunny: Uh, it's been 4 times over a period of 20 years.

Alex: You auditioned as a teen at the Mall of America, didn't you?

Sunny: Yeah, for the Teen Tournament when I was in high school.

Evan Sandman successfully used his two correct Daily Double responses to catapult himself ahead of Sunny Stalter for the lead, and was able to stretch that lead far enough to earn a Crush. He seems to be a capable player, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up as a two-day winner heading into the Tournament of Champions.

I got communists for FJ easily. I have a question in terms of answer choice: Would Marxists be accepted as an answer? Alex used Marx's name, which tends to make me lean yes, plus the date makes it seem more obvious.

I loved the Fiona Apple neg for The Beatles. I didn't know that one and actually thought about her but I figured that there wasn't a well-known nickname for her fans.

I loved the Fiona Apple neg for The Beatles. I didn't know that one and actually thought about her but I figured that there wasn't a well-known nickname for her fans.

I wondered if it was Coldplay. It's a rare board where I can sweep a Lit category (especially a DJ! one) while coming up blank on multiple clues in a music category... credit to Prisoner of Trebekistan for being able to get the Forster clue.

For FJ!, let's just say that the poll won't be 100%. I somehow got stuck on trying to find something related to slavery... maybe I can blame the inability to read the clue on having the Passage To India mental image in my head...

ETA: Seeing the FJ! clue, I do remember being a bit thrown by the broken-up quotation having a "this" in it. The phrasing messed up my brain's "Jeopardy! parser" a bit, having me wonder "this sense? what sense?".

The J! round was like night and day compared to Friday's show. I believe that there wasn't a single missed answer for the first 28 clues of the show, as only the bottom two clues in the seashell category tripped up the players. I didn't think that overall the boards were ridiculously easy. I got 20/30 and 18/30, with $31,200, which is a little above average for me. I was thankful they had enough time to get through the candy category, which was an easy 5/5 for me. Candy might be right up there with sports as my top wheelhouse categories.

Nice win by Evan, nice bold wagering on the Daily Doubles, and even a nice poker face to make Alex think he had missed FJ. All three players even made pretty solid wagers in FJ. Gina and Sunny both both pretty much could have bet it all, and I'm guessing they left a little behind to try to sneak into 2nd, rather than 3rd, on a triple stumper. Sunny left $400 behind, and Gina must have been either reading her mind, or peeking at her podium, since she left $500 behind.

I am wondering if anyone on here will ridicule Gina's answer of abolitionists, but I didn't think it was a terrible guess, and it crossed my list of potential answers as well. If you imagine the quote coming from a southern writer, it makes sense that they would equate the loss of their slaves with the idea that soon people would lose all private property. Or it could just be that the word "abolition" was in the clue, and that is was Gina keyed on and she couldn't think of anything else.

It took me a little time to figure out how to phrase the answer. Did they want communists or communism? Looking for a group, communists would make sense, but it seems like it would sound better to say "Who are communists", rather than "What are communists?" I guess it works either way for a group of people: Who are Democrats? What are Democrats? Who are Catholics? What are Catholics? I guess none of these really sound wrong, and there may be some grammar rule relating to collective nouns that indicates that "what" is preferable to "who" in situations like these.

The trick or treaters were kind with the doorbell only ringing twice during the show and both times it was during a commercial or during the interviews.

Since the show ended the doorbell has already rung three (make it eight now) times in the following 30 minutes.

Sunny was looking quite comfortable at the champ's position for most of the game. Evan seemed to feed off the energy of his (noticeably enthusiastic) rooting section to finally get the hang of the game. In a strange way he reminded me of a non-serious Dave Abbott.

Any kind of computer acronym/texting category will always teach me something new. IMHO was one I thought was In My Honest Opinion. Humble? Wow, how did I never learn the true word?

Bellevue in Hospitals was one where I know exactly the place to give the credit for getting it. Miracle on 34th St.

The FJ clue can add me to the group for costing it 100% on the polls. As if that had any chance of happening any way. I was in the right area, but I crossed off proletariat for working class. My first reading had me thinking about socialists. Communists. Of course. Bye bye mini streak of 7 in row.

There are quite a few references online to your answer as a secondary meaning of IMHO, so it is possible that they could have had that listed as an alternate answer.
