According to J!6, there's a NATIONAL ANTHEMS category tonight.

Yes I ran the category.
No, I haven't watched the episode yet
But, yes, I ran the category

Congrats to Sarah on her win. I had 41 correct responses including three triple stumpers: battle/rattle/Seattle, Achilles tendon, and Water for Elephants. I also got the missed DD of Angelina Jolie, and I got FJ.

I replied to FJ with, "What is, 'I'm your huckleberry.' "? I'm counting it. :)

I'm impressed with anyone who got the Omani National Anthem.

I was trying to think of authors for FJ, drew a blank and tried for dentists and came up with Holliday. Who would have thought he wrote a thesis?

Sultanate. Oman. But then again, I am impressive in general.

I went 4/5 in anthems, thought the Sultan one was Brunei.

FJ was a pretty quick solve for me.

Yep, I went to Brunei, too. Which, of course, is nowhere near the Middle East.

ETA: Just looked it up -- although ruled by a Sultan, Brunei is not a Sultanate. It is called the Nation of Brunei, the Abode of Peace.

Instaget FJ for me. That leaves tomorrow to see if I come out ahead on FJ's this week.

41R/4W ($22,400 Coryat); 0/3 on DD's; TS: Battle/Rattle/Seattle, 30 days.

Yeah, "sultanate in the Middle East" should be Pavlovian for Oman. That's how I got it.

Congrats to Sarah on the win, as the carousel continues and our drought of 5x-ers hits 96 games.

FJ wasn't quite an instaget for me, but I teased it out relatively quickly. Nice, elegantly written clue. The key was to focus on the "west" part of the clue; since I knew that Doc Holliday was a dentist (although I hadn't been aware of his tuberculosis), everything fell into place.

EDITED to correct the number of games since the last 5x-er, since I had originally misread the chart on Keith's site.

All through Placido Domingo's carefully enunciated clue, I was chanting Othello! Othello! Othello! and when it was over I was very glad that he didn't get AT's job.

I blew the moon by saying Callista.
I'd rather cuddle then have sex. If you're into grammar, you'll understand.

Instaget FJ. A little surprised our returning champ didn't get it. I thought she might be the only one as she's the most likely to have seen My Darling Clementine.

Glad to see someone run a sports category and play well in the other categories.

Like just about everyone I bet, I went 4/5 in National Anthems. I said Kuwait, which I think is an emirate.

I thought we were in for a lot of missed clues after the first opera clue featured a long (and to my ears painful) operatic rendition. Thankful that there was only one other guest clue.

My precall during the break was Harriet Beecher Stowe, but I got to Doc Holliday pretty quickly.

Golden Compass was one of my faves when I was younger and I read them as they came out, so no way to miss that one.

I am awful at sports, but ran that category as well as the alcohol one.

Also, I was cringing at how long that first opera clue took. Sheesh.

That National Anthems category wasn't great for me. I guessed New Zealand on the Australia one, I clammed on GStQ, and missed Oman.

I was worried you'd have a Keith Williamsesque meltdown if "O Canada" had been a stand-and-stare.

I also guessed New Zealand, because I knew that their flag has the Southern Cross on it.

It was so weird to see all three contestants choosing clues top-to-bottom the old-fashioned way .

Excellent game by DefCon4, sorry he couldn't pull it out at the end. It sort of felt like an reverse Slam's Rule. He was posting regularly here until his taping, then stopped.
