Boo hiss! That neg on "From" was not a bit welcome.

Not that it would have mattered.

But completely justified.

Speaking of coin flips, was Washington/Oregon the complete coin flip it seemed to be?

...we're just never going to get that tiebreaker, are we?

Instaget FJ, followed by convincing myself that there was no way Streep was old enough.

Laura and Fariha destroyed that college athlete category! Very nice.

Todd had 7 clues to choose from late in DJ, only one guaranteed NOT to hold the DD. Guess which clue he chose?

3 useless DD wagers, oh well.

Nice sole FJ solve, was shocked when Streep was negged. And 3 perfect wagers to boot!

This game was fun to watch; I was hoping for a tiebreaker. Congrats to Todd on his third win. I had 43 correct responses including these triple stumpers: percolation, subsidy, David, and Marmaduke. I also got FJ.

Knew that Streep was too young to fit the FJ clue, but the only actress I could think of in the right age group was Vanessa Redgrave, even though I didn't think she had a lot of recent nominations.

I had "To" the New World, instead of "From" in Symphonies.

Really great game today. I thought for sure we were going to see that tiebreaker going into FJ. At least we didn't miss out on it due to poor wagering!

Anyone else mis-identify the French children's tune as "Alouette?"

Katharine Hepburn? I'm guessing she didn't notice the year given. Because otherwise, another well played game.

Since the entire area was called the Oregon territory before it was carved up, it was a strong leaning before the WA elimination.

That's your opinion. I think the writer should be horsewhipped. I have never heard it as "From the New World", always "The New World Symphony".

It's also known as "New World Symphony", "the" is not part of it.

Wasn't it just yesterday that Alex reminded a player that responses could not be changed after being negged? Why, then, did he allow one to be changed today? I mean, he could have negged it outright instead of indicating "it's not quite right; try again."

If I hadn't remembered that Meryl Streep was born in the late '40s, FJ probably would've went another way for me. Got Dench, but considered Helen Mirren as well after I eliminated Streep.

Nice to see some well-played games this week. Here's to hoping that Todd can win a couple more and break the 5xer drought.

Dvorak's Symphony No 9 is officially subtitled "From the New World". Every recording I have ever seen - and I have a couple - use that subtitle. New World Symphony is an informal description.

I've heard it referred to as the "New World Symphony" but have always seen it formally as Symphony No. X in Whatever "From the New World." At any rate, the clue asked specifically for the subtitle so it was unambiguous even if tricky.

"What the hell name has 'ella' and 'bella' in it? Ellabella? Bellagio? Bellatrix?" Oh, go the OTHER way.

"What the hell technology is vital to summer time life?!" ... Yeah, no way was I ever getting that, living my entire life in frigid Michigan.

"Unsportsmanlike" eluded me because I somehow momentarily thought they wanted an N in the middle adn not an S.

College for $200 could've used a TOM or three.

Anyone else join me in saying "WHAT! IS! SPARTA!" on Victor for $400?

Odd Words for $400 was a total trap for 80 vs. 800.

Strangely, sommelier was my only miss in Wine.

Rin Tin Tin, then Tintin. Cute, writers, very cute. I missed the former because I didn't know what kind of dog he was, and got the Lach Trash on Marmaduke too.

No guess on FJ! Who the hell is Judi Dench?!
