Three of the four who chose this one gave me the dull, prosaic explanation that Big 5 is a sporting goods store in the United States, which tied in with my asking about the "Big Five" orchestras. Only debramc had the brilliance to suggest the following:
11. 1 - Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure - Bill & Ted take Beethoven (& Genghis Khan & whoever else they brought back, I haven't seen the film for decades) to the mall. Someone (maybe Beethoven but I'm thinking Genghis Khan) tries to go into a sporting goods store. They wind up at a music store, Beethoven is playing an electric piano, and later when the guys give the report at school they list Beethoven's favorite pieces as [something by Mozart], [something else classical], and 'Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet'. I hope that's plenty of detail...
So, you know, you other three still get credit. (Especially dhkendall who reminded me that he's Canadian and they don't have Big 5 Sporting Goods or other trappings of civilization up there.) But next time, take a page from debramc's book and put some effort into it.
This is the most praise I've gotten in years! And perhaps the most creativity I've demonstrated ever... Too bad it had no significant effect on my standing:
[snip the top 27 players]
debramc 47 (2+3+0+2+4+11+9+8+3+1+4)
immaf 49 (2+4+2+1+11+6+4+11+0+3+5)
Bamaman 72 (6+3+3+0+4+6+9+11+10+10+10)
But hey, I had loads of fun and I have come in dead last before, so I'm certainly not complaining! Congrats to the winners, etc...

Did anyone mention the only food offered is wren's liver and ocelot spleens?
What??? No Lark's Tongue in Aspic? Pfftt.
Whereas we get the choicest juicy chunks of fresh Cornish ram's bladder, emptied, steamed, flavoured with sesame seeds, whipped into a fondue and garnished with lark's vomit.

Methinks the showering may be with tomatoes rather than roses.
Great job Opus. I love it when a host goes that extra step (or in this an extra mile) in doing the additional research and effort, pizzazzing up the quiz. I know how much work it takes. Congrats to Samer and lasercats.
I had both the time and energy to give complete answers, I just lacked the knowledge. I knew I was doomed to a last place finish on this quiz as I've never even heard of many of the answers.

Well, let me just say how much I appreciated your decision to take a shot at it anyway. It made my day when the quiz reached 30 contestants. Couldn't have done it without you.
