LL 70 Referrals

Post by ElendilPickle »

If you're interested in joining Learned League when season 70 opens in August, I have two referrals available.

I prefer to refer people who have been here on JBoard for a while and who post regularly enough that I can get a sense of who they are, but I can be flexible depending on the circumstances.

If you want a referral, or if you also have referrals to give, please post here so they don't get lost in last season's thread.

Does LL take a lot of dedication? I would be up for it but I couldn't spend more than a couple of hours a week on it. Also I will be pretty bad :3

You answer six questions a day. You are competing against one person and you assign a point value for each question, which will determine your opponent's score.

You have all day to submit your answers, but it should take about 10-15 minutes at the most.

A season consists of 25 matches. The matches are not held on weekends or major holidays.

Perhaps you can play along for this season to determine if you should join next seasons. All of the questions are available to the public the next day, so you can judge how long it would take you, although that doesn't allow time for assigning defense. Additionally, there are rundles running from A-E that groups people of similar skills, where you will be assigned after your rookie season. The general public also has access to the standings and the percentages of people that get a particular question correct, so you can gauge which rundle you'd fall into.

Forgot to mention that there are also places here and on the learned league web site that discuss the questions, too.

I gave my two referrals for LL70 to two former J! champs (Liz Haigney Lynch and Elisabeth Carrel), so I couldn't be prouder. I feel like a proud papa giving the keys to the car to two very responsible teen drivers. ;)

I'm there so it isn't that hard.

Invitations went out today to those already referred.

This is very similar to what I did, and I recommend it to anyone who is uncertain.

Once you make Learned League part of your routine, it doesn't feel like a very big time commitment any more.

I'm interested, if anyone's OK with referring a relative newbie to this board. I did some reading on the site, though, and saw that forfeits are frowned upon (as they should be). I'll be on a backpacking trip in the middle of LL 70 with no internet access. Are there any mechanisms in place to accommodate situations like this?

Thanks!
