It looks like TPTB accepted my R3D4 answer of 'allusion' instead of the intended 'allegory'. I agree that was a tough call, so I thank you for the points.

I've never had any trouble memorizing the capital of Sri Lanka until just now when I learned that it wasn't Colombo.hbomb1947 wrote: Have you been able to memorize the capital of Sri Lanka? (I'm still having trouble with that one)

My scoring has your answer of allusion currently marked as incorrect.alietr wrote:It looks like TPTB accepted my R3D4 answer of 'allusion' instead of the intended 'allegory'. I agree that was a tough call, so I thank you for the points.
Your score for R3D4:
"All" that: +2, +4, -3, +8, +10 = 21
Hibbing: +3, +6, +9, 0, +15 = 33
Total: 54
Please let me know if you were expecting a different score.

I assume my ungraded question for 3R6 was answering "Middlemarch of Madness" instead of "Middlemarch Madness"?

Am I correct that "Seko" was negged for Mobutu Sese Seko? That's a bummer.
Having just looked it up, I learned that Mobutu was his surname from birth, and that "Sese Seko" was (part of) a long title/name he gave himself meaning "the all-powerful warrior who, because of his endurance and inflexible will to win, will go from conquest to conquest, leaving fire in his wake" and thus not really his middle/last names. Unfortunately, I didn't know that when I submitted my answers, or I would've given all three parts.

So in the end, you decided to neg me for that? Considering the vague nature of that category, and "we want you to give you points", what is the reason for that, exactly?rjaguar3 wrote:That is correct.IronNeck wrote:I assume my ungraded question for 3R6 was answering "Middlemarch of Madness" instead of "Middlemarch Madness"?

In IronNeck's favor, I see "March of Madness" is a sometimes-used term, and there's a website by that name ("marchofmadness dot com") that lets you fill in your own basketball bracket.

I've heard both terms used, yes.Magna wrote:In IronNeck's favor, I see "March of Madness" is a sometimes-used term, and there's a website by that name ("marchofmadness dot com") that lets you fill in your own basketball bracket.
I imagine on Jeopardy itself, "Middlemarch of Madness" would be a borderline response. Possibly accepted, possibly BMS, possibly a neg. But I thought SHC repeatedly noted how wide a latitude they give responses.

Re: 2016 Summer Hiatus Challenge - Round 3 Instant Replay Thread (SPOILERS)
I dispute the assertion that "March of Madness" is sometimes-used in a basketball sense (not counting a single domain name in limited namespace). My cursory Google finds song reference, Magic the Gathering references, but certainly not any basketball ones.
However, on the second part of the argument ("We want to give you points"), the SHC team will at least revisit our decision. This is not to say it'll change, but we'll revisit our original call.
