CONTESTANT INTERVIEWS
Alex: At a certain point in everyone's life, birthday presents can be a problem, but not for Kat Lewin's fiancé. He came up with something unique.
Kat: He did. Also, I think his mom--his mom's here. She just found out we're engaged right now.
Alex: Ah.
Kat: Um, my very romantic fiancé, Taggert, um, for my last birthday commissioned a series of custom paintings based on phrases I'd said when I was falling asleep.
Alex: Mm-hmm.
Kat: So my favorite is, uh, there is Batman's head on Mount Rushmore, and there's kind of a little doll hanging out of his nose. 'Cause I rolled over one night and I said in my best Christian Bale impression, "I sneeze dolls like you for breakfast."
[Laughter]
Kat: So that's in our kitchen now.
Alex: [Laughs] Okay.
Alex: All right, Georjean McKeeman.
Georjean: Right.
Alex: From Prescott, Arizona. A traveling woman because you have visited, in terms of our national parks, or national areas, which is it?
Georjean: It's the National--it's all the National Park Service areas.
Alex: So that includes what?
Georjean: It includes national parks, national monuments...
Alex: Ah.
Georjean: ...national seashores, national lakeshores.
Alex: There are over 400 of them, aren't there?
Georjean: There are over 400. 411.
Alex: How many have you visited?
Georjean: 316.
Alex: Well... get going, lady. I mean, come on.
[Laughter]
Alex: You're slacking off, aren't you?
Alex: All right, Chuck Dunn is a mathematics professor. And he originally wanted to be a professional trombone player. And I understand you still play in a group of trombonists.
Chuck: I do. I play in a--it's the Rose City Trombones. Um, yeah, but I'd wanted to be a professional trombone player until my last year of college. Then I kinda realized, it's gonna be easier to have mathematics as a career and music on the side than the other way around.
Alex: Okay.
