gg guys

I wish I could attribute my first TD victory to anything other than extremely good luck. I don't know how I managed to avoid SHEEPing even once. I could have just as easily SHEEPed over half the questions.

Congrats! That was an interesting TD format. Hope to find another one like that on here again!

Ooh, I like the standard scoring better!

Either way - thanks for the fun game, Woof, and congrats to Vintsanity for a stellar performance.

Thanks for a great game - a very enjoyable format that screws with one's mind even more than a regular TD.

I should also be included as bowing out after round 9. I'm just saying.
Teems with quiet fun.

Oops! Right you are, immaf. Now corrected, which makes you good for 10th place in the scoring system. Sorry 'bout the omission.

Very enjoyable game, Woof! In spite of my early departure, I loved your clever variation on the rules of Think Different.

Congrats, too, to the podium finishers. Well done! (Full disclosure: Aunt_Ija is my wonderful wife)

Thanks, Woof. I liked the twist and will take the "almost 2nd place" since I was eliminated early. Ooh if I could have just had another singleton!

Yeah, you were one of the more interesting cases: you were eliminated early on, but were among the leaders right up until the end.

TD 321 postmortem

Post by Woof »

Being a stats geek, I ran a few numbers on this new scoring system of mine. FWIW, here are my findings in case anyone else might be interested in such arcana:

Code: Select all

Round No SHEEP 1 SHEEP Eliminated
1 24 6 2
2 19 7 6
3 13 10 9
4 10 9 13
5 10 7 15
6 7 8 17
7 4 8 20
8 2 7 23
9 1 2 29
10 1 0 31
As can be seen, the number of people with one SHEEP response stayed remarkably constant from round to round until very late in the game (8+/- 2). This tells me that we had a "steady state" equilibrium, with about the same number of players being eliminated via a second SHEEP as those who got their first SHEEP. The second noteworthy trend was the near constant number of people eliminated per round (3 +/- 1) until the last two rounds. This worked out very neatly for me since we had 32 entrants and 10 rounds. Clearly, one wouldn't want to have any more rounds in this format unless one could get a substantial increase in the number of entrants. Taken together, these two trends indicate an overall movement of 3 people per round through each of the states. The two grand exceptions are Rounds 1 and 9, for different reasons. I am unsure of whether this number is sensitive to the number of entrants or not.
