And there it ends. Grafton has died at 77 of cancer.

Grafton's sister, who announced her death, said, "The alphabet now ends at Y.”
Her daughter announced her death and said that.
From one of the news stories: Grafton had never allowed her books to be turned into movies or TV shows, and her daughter said she was adamantly against ghost writers.

"As far as we in the family are concerned, the alphabet now ends at Y," Clark wrote.

Being cynical and doubtful: If by 2020 there are no movies/TV shows/Z book I'll eat my hat. Grafton can lock down all such things beyond the grave? Heirs will abide by wishes?

I wonder if she had an outline for Z so we can at least get an idea of Kinsey’s fate. I haven’t read the last two but I will make a point to do so now.

Edit...I found an article that said she hadn’t started it and was having trouble coming up with an idea. Which I understand. Ending the series had to be tough, especially when you factor in her personal situation.

Christopher Tolkien did a pretty good job running a tight ship.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.
Latest movies (1-10): Shadows (5), Foxy Brown (7), Everything Everywhere All at Once (10), Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken (6)

The dingbats at Entertainment Weekly couldn't be bothered to name an Entertainer of the Year for 2017, instead just listing their 15 favorites. Lame.

The year-end issue did have one of my favorite features, though, the guest obits for people who died the previous year. So, given the author of the remembrance, can you name the late celeb who was the subject?

1. Valerie Harper
2. Sean Hayes
3. Barbara Broccoli
4. Ed Harris
5. Brian Wilson
6. Joshua Malina
7. James Cameron
8. Greg Nicotero
9. Danny Bonaduce
10. Molly Ringwald
11. Roma Downey
12. Jay Leno

Answers:
Spoiler
1. Mary Tyler Moore (co-stars on The Mary Tyler Moore show)
2. Jerry Lewis (Hayes played him in 2002 TV movie)
3. Roger Moore (daughter of James Bond producer Cubby Broccoli)
4. Sam Shepard (co-stars in The Right Stuff)
5. Glen Campbell (Campbell toured with the Beach Boys)
6. Robert Guillaume (co-stars on Sports Night)
7. Bill Paxton (Cameron directed him in 5 movies (Bonus trivia: name them)
Spoiler
The Terminator, Aliens, True Lies, Titanic, Ghosts of the Abyss (documentary)
8. George A. Romero (zombie special effects artist)
9. David Cassidy (co-stars on The Partridge Family)
10. Harry Dean Stanton (he played her father in Pretty in Pink)
11. Della Reese (co-stars on Touched by an Angel)
12. Don Rickles (frequent Tonight Show guest, albeit during the Johnny era)
I believe this quiz format originated on Ken Jennings's website, either his blog or the Message Board or possibly both.

During Moore's long and distinguished 70 years in motion pictures, THIS is who they chose? Someone who was 12 years old when Moore filmed his first Bond film and whose closest connection to him was being an assistant director on Octopussy and A View to a Kill? If they wanted to focus on the Bond era, were John Glen and Lewis Gilbert not available?

Since no one has started a 2018 Current Events Study Guide:

On Friday, Feb. 9, South Korea officially becomes the second Asian country (after Japan) to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics.
