"This Day in History" is not current events.
I'll allow it. The core idea behind these threads is to highlight events J! would cover. The anniversary itself is a current event, it's been covered well by the media and J! loves its Beatles. It's not like we're digging into arcane Wikipedia pages for stuff to post with this one.

I'll defer to the threadmaster. :)

While they already had the record for most consecutive sellouts by any sports team that could be verified, the Dayton Dragons (low A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) have now sold out 1,200 consecutive home games. The last non-sellout was before the team moved to Dayton from Rockford, IL.

It kind of overshadowed another big release. David Bowie released his eponymous solo album on the same day.

If J! asks about this, it'll likely boil down to "nm stands for this" but it's still cool (and not sad)
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/06/ibm-5nm-chip/
IBM, working with Samsung and GlobalFoundries, has unveiled the world's first 5nm silicon chip.

More likely J! material:

ESPN looks like they're bringing back Hank "Are You Ready For Some Football?!" Williams, Jr., for MNF
https://deadspin.com/espn-is-bringing-b ... 1795813155

He was canned back in 2011 for being, in short, non-PC.

Maybe not J! canon but still important to me, Peter Sallis, the voice of Wallace in Wallace and Gromit passed away at 96.

BobF wrote: Fri May 19, 2017 12:45 pm Anthony Weiner just pled guilty to sexting a 15 year old girl. Agrees not to appeal any sentence between 21 and 27 months.

Will he appeal an 18 month sentence claiming it's too short? And what kind of idiot trusts a 15 year old girl not to tell about something like that, especially if you are somewhat famous?
In Weiner's case the answer is simple: a HUUUUUUGGGEEE idiot, which he has proven over and over.

And I know, there are many sex addicts out there, but usually their "exploits" don't cause nearly the ruckus his have, by virtue of his (former) position and his proximity to many other high-ranking people. As they say, people in glass houses.....

So glad that jackass wasn't from my stat...my boroug....my distric....$#*!.

There was a documentary about his failed, idiotic run for mayor. I probably wasn't meant to laugh at his misfortunes, or the "I'm going to kill you" looks from Huma, but I found it hilarious.

He just missed what I call a Home Run Cycle -- a one-run HR, two-run HR, three-run HR and grand slam (there was one on twice, and none of them were with two on). I don't think that's ever been done.

Teresa May's snap election backfired, resulting in a hung Parliament where the Tories no longer hold a majority of seats.

There are very obvious reasons why this isn't the case.

Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb. RIP Batman.

Adam West passes away at 88.

Also worth knowing, if you don't already, his other major role as the mayor of Quahog on Family Guy.

Patch even showed up on the WQC this year so perhaps he will show up on J! as well.
