Wheel Of Fortune request

Post by bpmod »

It seems that my station is not showing Wheel Of Fortune tomorrow or Friday. I am wondering if there is somebody here who has the capability and whose station is not preempting it that might be willing to snag me a high-def recording of each.

Thanks

Brian

No. I have that one. They do far too much editing of the show before broadcast. Way worse than what they do to Jeopardy!

But thanks.

What did you think of how the last round of regular play ended?

Even a Wheel sucker like me got that one ...

That poor guy.

Dh and I had figured out the puzzle a few letters before the end. When the contestant spun with one letter left, dh said, "Does he not know it, or is he trying for more money?" I yelled, "Call the K! Call the K!" When he actually did it, we literally LOLed.

You sure about that? I have seen equally poor plays (I wouldn't call it "dimwittery" like you did) on Jeopardy many, many times.

Doing well on Jeopardy doesn't make you "smart", either, nor does doing poorly mean one is intellectually inferior. And I also wonder how many of those mocking the guy have actually read Williams' original play, as opposed to hearing about the movie adaptation in passing?

It was a funny mistake by the guy that I'm glad alietr linked to. But it sure doesn't mean the guy is stupid.

Someone can now write and produce a play by that name. Free publicity!

ETA It would also make an awesome screen name.

A round or two later, the same poor guy, when given "Sticky" _ICKET, guessed PICKET, leaving the next contestant to pick up WICKET in one of their crossword puzzles.

Isn't that kind of the point? To get it you don't have to have done anything but heard of the movie in passing, which most people have...But, hey, maybe he thought it was in a Before and After kind of category... ;) And anyway, I like to point out that theater is a weak area for most J! contestants.
BTW, the Washington Post ruins it by putting the mistake in the headline...

If you were not allowed to ring in on a clue about a book unless you have actually read it, there would be a lot of stand and stares.

Exactly. And having heard about a book/play in passing without having read it doesn't make one any "smart" or more "intellectual" than one who hasn't.
