Quiz Show Scorekeeper Open Beta (Version 1.1 Update, see latest post)

Post by SweepingDeveloper »

Hello JBoard! I'd like to invite you all to an open beta testing of my new Android app, Quiz Show Scorekeeper.

It's basically another Coryat Scorekeeper for Android (there are several of these out there), but with the following differences:

* Store up to ten games in one file.
* Save/load your files locally.
* Export your file to an XLSX file, which many modern spreadsheets are compatible with (even Google Sheets!)
* Keep track of category types with the color code the J! writers use (correct me if I got that mixed up in the app)

This open beta version is free for all the features, and can be downloaded here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/co ... corekeeper

If you will, I would like some feedback for this app. The form to do so is here:
https://goo.gl/forms/hPUvBLkcqHNDjiRy2

If there's enough positive feedback for this app, I would like to either monetize it with ads or create two versions of the app: A lite version for free, and a paid version (there's a question about that in the form)

Hope you all enjoy it!

I've just released an update to the app, with the following bug fixes:

* The app no longer clears out the unsaved portion of your game if your phone goes to sleep.
* When you save your game, the app goes back to the previous game and round, instead of reverting to Game 1, Single Round.

(UPDATE: Apparently my version of the app still has these bugs.)

That first bullet point was VERY important for this update. I started testing this app using the material from the J-Archive. Since there was no delay in going over the clues, the phone didn't go to sleep due to inactivity. However, since I was able to watch some shows in real-time (I work nights during the school year, and I don't always have time to watch previously recorded shows), with the commercial breaks and contestant interviews, I could see the effect. Hence, the change.

I just made another update to Quiz Show Scorekeeper. It's still in beta, because I still have no feedback from this.

For those of you familiar with Android development, what really helped fix those previous bugs I mentioned (I hope), was implementing a SavedInstanceState. I looked this up online, and I think that should do the trick.

In addition, I tweaked the layout so that the board fills the entire width of the screen. (Bonus, it also increases the clue text size on most tablets!)

For those of you who are already in Open Beta testing, please update your app. If not, I invite you to try this free app.

The links to join beta testing are in the OP, as well as a feedback form. Also, feel free to leave feedback on this thread if you wish.

Here are some screenshots for the updated version (as well as one as seen on a tablet):
