My Mets fandom has worked out pretty well for me (Hernandez, Mets and Tides (even if they are the Orioles now)).
Ditto. One point (and 3 places!) behind you. For some reason, I just decided to go with the Omaha/KC Royals connection. Probably because it's a relatively low population state.

The problem is that everyone else is thinking the same way, and sometimes the easy answers go unpicked and the hard ones are the most picked. It can be hard to hit the sweet spot (no pun intended).

I thought sure that Hank Aaron and Willy McCovey's home town would have an AAA team.

Mobile has a AA team, but not AAA.

Re: TD 346 - Baseball (Q1 - Q8 revealed)

Post by Linear Gnome »

I filled out a Missouri-centric entry, which is doing well so far aside from the sheep on question 7. Judging by the Cardinals' performance lately, I'm going to drop precipitously in the last couple of questions.

(Aside from the games they haven't been in at all, such as the one in which Scooter Gennett [who had never hit 4 HR's in a month before] hit 4 HR's in one game, they've also had quite a few infuriating come-from-ahead losses, related to their off-the-charts negative run differential in the seventh inning and later.)

I forget how the question was worded, but Tropicana field was built several years before the Rays started play because they were trying to lure another team there.

EDIT: Okay, never mind. "Been in use by an MLB team for 20 years". Your ruling is correct.

I knew the stadium was there longer - hence the "been in use by MLB team" qualifier in the question.

After starting off sheep, sheep, near-sheep, sheep, that ended quite well :D Thanks for a great TD and congrats to the podium.

Of course, a baseball TD wouldn't be complete without the Yankees going unused at least once  I swear I have more luck with Mets answers; after the earlier reveals I thought more would pick the home of the 51s.

I echo the thanks for a fun TD, but had the opposite experience -- started off with a singleton and was in last place by question three. But I moved up to finish in next-to-last.

I think clt013 is being generous in the league assignments -- after the way I played, Single A is a reach. Rookie league would probably be more appropriate.

At least the rules said those who finished in the bottom three get their entry fee back. Isn't that what the rules said? Or did I misread that, too?

I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Thanks for the game clt and congratulations to Aoba! Damn that Yoenis Cespedes for jumping around to so many teams earlier this decade. He cost me a lot of points.
