I'm pretty sure Tracy Bacon was in my J! audition in Phoenix in January. But you can decide for yourself (I'm the guy behind her in the blue shirt and gray hair).
Congratulations, Tracy!
Congratulations, Tracy!

Re: Tuesday, June 6, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
Mike got $3000 for running MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TEAM NICKNAMES, yet went into the FJ! round with only 5200 and a 7200 Coryat. A little better on the scoreboard and he could have stolen the game in the FJ! round with his sole solve.
I guess the Stein/Oakland connection is not as well known as I thought since it was a TS.
The laugh of the game was the Albright for Rice guess in the SoS being from Alabama.
The writers need to cut back on the grainy stuff as I was more than done with that material after a 2R 1W in CEREALS and they threw in one more in the “AL” category.
THE OSCARS had me thinking the clue would go current off the Moonlight/La La Land blunder and ask for something about the Oscar success of presenters Dunaway & Beatty.
Nope, the time machine had to be set further back and no problem since I was sure about all parts of the clue.

WLT corn at $200?
Talk of the Town was incredibly devoid of TOM.
Davis Cup was very undervalued at $200.
I missed DJ! because my DVR is slowly dying. Will have to watch on Reddit.
No guess on FJ!

Please tell me you are not referring to alfalfa.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 11:14 amThe writers need to cut back on the grainy stuff as I was more than done with that material after a 2R 1W in CEREALS and they threw in one more in the “AL” category.
No idea on FJ. Had some candidates for the "honorary Oscar" part but couldn't match to any films from 1992.

Yeah, I should not have used "grainy" to cover those six clues. Agricultural? Rural? Farming? Harvesting?heppm01 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 7:48 pmPlease tell me you are not referring to alfalfa.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 11:14 amThe writers need to cut back on the grainy stuff as I was more than done with that material after a 2R 1W in CEREALS and they threw in one more in the “AL” category.

Re: Tuesday, June 6, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
I'm trying to get back into brewing, which is why I'm still confused by this clue and the associated callback:
"The goodness of barley includes being the source of this partly fermented product used in the brewing of beer"
Am I wrong about the "partly fermented" issue in either case?
"The goodness of barley includes being the source of this partly fermented product used in the brewing of beer"
Spoiler
The judges wanted "malt" and Tracy's answer of "wort" was accepted. (I was also thinking "mash".) But to my knowledge, neither has partial fermentation, because yeast isn't pitched until after wort.

Anybody else hear somebody's watch alarm going off during the interview with Tracy? I'm betting it was Alex's.

Finally made my DVR cooperate for DJ!
All but "aldeberran" in "Al".
WLT India, Moscow, or New York City at $400?

Yup ..Mike started super strong and I didn't expect him to end on 5200. Tracy was at 0 (ok 1200) and got to a respectable score..good work.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2017 11:14 am Mike got $3000 for running MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TEAM NICKNAMES, yet went into the FJ! round with only 5200 and a 7200 Coryat. I had no idea about Stein/Oakland connection, but got to the right response from the clue.
Looks like her to me. Were you expecting her to be on the show?

Re: Tuesday, June 6, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
Missed most of J! round as I had a vicious spider bite in my garden and calf swelled up like a major league baseball... sufficiently recovered after the break to pick up a few trash; Davis cup; sow wild oats; red sorghum; Condi Rice ex AL; aldebaran in Taurus (was "also ran" a TS? didn't note it, but ran the cat, gave 'alimentary tract' for canal, pretty certain its acceptable standard medical term); Martha Graham > Appalacian Spring dancer. Did not connect Lafayette statue in DC to Bertholdi (Liberty) although I've been to both!
No get on FJ I dithered over Peter O'Toole and Lawrence Olivier whom i was quite certain had two honoraries, confirmed by a wiki ex post facto, however he was not in a '92 biopic and I never saw the Chaplin pic. Good I only bet $5 on Oscars finals!

I thought the wording on FJ was weird, "two honorary Oscars" suggested he didn't ever win a real one, and that threw me off.

33 right.
Baseball (5), Town (3), Award (4), Women (4), Fa*st (1), Cereal (1)
Dance (3), Landmarks (4), "AL" (2), 4th century (2), Approx (2), Song/Book (2)
Lach Trash: Gertrude Stein, Davis Cup, Condoleezza Rice, Tom Sawyer; Daily Double: New Orleans
I knew about Charlie Chaplin getting honorary Oscars, and while I wasn't exactly sure of the year of the biopic with Robert Downey Jr., I thought it was a pretty good guess.

Re: Tuesday, June 6, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
Final Jeopardy had me initally thinking of Jimmy Stewart or Henry Fonda, but I couldn't think of any films with someone playing them in the '90's so I figured it must have been someone pretty iconic in the B&W film era, and then Chaplin came to mind.

This would have been a great FJ for me if I didn't think Robert Downey Jr played Buster Keaton in that movie.

Now I'm curious as to whether or not Robert KS got tonight's Final correct.
