Italy & Greece
Dr. Autopsy in being nowhere close to Nostradamus, doctor or not
I never look at the FJ! clue ahead of time, so the typo on the J! site did not affect me.
Hammered on Redmayne although getting to either the movie or the real person would have been an instaget.

I edited the poll choice to correct "Italy, but not Corsica" to "Italy, but not France."

Knew Corsica/Sardinia and France/Italy
No guess Tuesday, did not know Nostrodamus was a doctor, but not surprised either.
Wild guess of Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash on Thursday. Think I would have gotten Redmayne if spotted the title or part.

On the islands, I figured that one of them had to be Italy and that Greece was negbait. So I picked Cyprus. Given how often Mediterranean islands come up in the clues, I need to memorize more about them.

Would never have gotten Redmayne, but instagets on Fitzgerald, Nostradamus (the doctor element in the clue clinched it for me), and Für Elise (which I have played before) including the umlaut.

Another tough week for me...Luckily, not knowing Nostradamus was a doctor didn't affect my getting the clue right....Just as knowing Eddie Redmayne's work very well - I saw the Hawking movie and I've seen him on stage - didn't help me get that one...
The Haymarket riot was a clue I got wrong at a J! audition a long time ago, so i haven't forgotten it since...

You could have spotted me Eddie Redmayne himself, and I still would have hesitated. AFAIC, that might the most obscure FJ they've ever run. These days, there are more award shows than there are younger actors one might be inclined to award. The only thing Hollywood is good at these days is congratulating itself.

No chance on Thursday. I said DiCaprio, even though I was pretty sure he was too old.

Did not know Nostradamus was a doctor. I think I only got this one because of the few episodes of Reign I watched.
I usually play off the Clue of the Day, but the odd wording made me look for alternate interpretations and I figured out what it was actually asking for and had the correct response for that, so I'm giving myself credit.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Correctly guessed Corsica and Sardinia -> France and Italy
News to me
I was pretty sure it was the actor who played Hawking, and I could picture him but couldn't pull his name.
I think that means I should have checked the box. I'll go back and do that.

FJs: Worked it out given geography, doctor and 1557 lead to a WECIB?, 1920/Nassau was a bit lucky but figured it fit the timeframe, figured quickly it'd be from ToE and went from there, only thing that sounds like the decided names is the correct response.

Haymarket from previous studies, Kinsey from activism work, should not have (but did!) clam on the $800 ATW.

Fell into the Italy and Greece trap; had Ryan Gosling for the Oscar clue (I know who Eddie Redmayne is not just from the film about Hawking, but also from his role as Marius in Les Misérables).

I wouldn't say Redmayne was an instaget (like
Spoiler
"uric acid" -> gout
), but I'm pretty sure I had it before Alex finished reading the clue. Oscars tends to be one of my worst categories.

On the Redmayne one, I had a pretty good idea that the movie was the Hawking biopic (which I had just watched a couple of months ago), but I couldn't pull the actor's name within the 30 seconds. It then suddenly came to me just after Alex revealed that the film in question was in fact The Theory of Everything (but before he revealed the actor's name). So I totally would have gotten that clue if it was an LL question, but I missed it as an FJ. And yeah, I had no idea Nostradamus was a doctor.
