What's the rule on whether you can correct yourself if you forget the "what is" in DJ? It seemed like Peter had a little time left on that DD, would they have accepted it if he corrected himself?

Jeremy could have had a runaway simply by not buzzing in on the final question.

Lach trash: Chicken Dance, English (eigo)

Peter, you are some kind of Jeopardy god for that recovery after whiffing on all three Daily Doubles and two TDDS.

What was the pivotal clue that gave us Delta in FJ?
The PUZZLERS category was what killed it.

Do you listen to the chat portion of the game? The time eater is singular.
The contestant interviews in the middle of the Jeopardy! Round are there for a good reason: to take a break and talk a bit about something totally unrelated to the game. Think of it as a baseball coach calling for a time-out if his team is off to a slow start. If the show did not have these breaks, then contestants could freeze under the lights and the round would be over before they even had the chance to participate.

Does anyone know if this would be ruled wrong automatically? Or asked to clarify?
I don't know if there's precedent, but personally I think "the 1700s" is a perfectly fine equivalent to "the 18th century."
I agree it's perfectly fine and should be accepted. However, it's not quite equivalent. The 1700s went from 1700 to 1799. The 18th century went from 1701 to 1800. For practical purposes, when Jeopardy! asks which century, this distinction won't matter.

Tough FJ. I too said AA. Know next to nothing about airlines, except what some of the ones in a few countries are called.

Yeah, unless they edited it (which is definitely possible), there weren't two seconds between when he stopped talking and when he was ruled incorrect.

Certainly if you haven't finished talking, you can correct yourself. That happened a few weeks back.

It may be based in part on how long it takes to come up with your answer - he did hem and haw a bit.

I also went with AA, primarily because I associate Delta with Atlanta, not Texas. I figured it wasn't a defunct airline (TWA, Eastern, Southern, etc.), so given that age it pretty much limited it to the Big Three.

I dropped the ball on FJ. I know Herb Kelleher founded Southwest, but when I saw Dallas my mind said "Southwest" and I just shut things down after that. I really should have thought more about the year, because it obviously couldn't have been Southwest. I still think Delta was difficult based on the hints given.

Game seemed like a giant splat fest overall by the three players.

Many of us who were first exposed to Vonnegut in the 70s or earlier know him as "Vonnegut, Jr." No danger there.

I doubt many dispute this. The reference is to one overly detailed story that ate up time.

Pro tip: everyone here knows how the game is played. You don't need to explain it to us.

I saw two correct responses that were properly stated, and one where she said "No answer". I looked at your other reference in the archive, and didn't see anything that indicated that you were given two seconds to restate in the form of a question.

She said "Samuel Pepys? P-E-P-Y-S?" and got zapped.

As for the other reference, that's all else I could find. :T

I don't think Jeremy gets off Scot free on this either, IMO.
