Fri - Didn't need image

Must've missed the Champlain part of that clue
2/3 - knew MPDG and microagression.

Familiar with the term 'microaggression'. Never heard the ridiculous term 'surrender cobra' in my life, but as a sports junkie I've seen (and probably done) it a thousand times. That pixie crap elicited a 'WTF?' reaction, even after it was explained to me.

The only '50s musical I could think of referring to a flower was Flower Drum Song - right creative team, wrong continent...Another instance when memorizing the dates of major works would probably help...
The one phrase I never heard of was surrender cobra (sounds like a weird analogue to "Surrender Dorothy"!), but I wouldn't have been able to place MPDG. I've seen microaggression in the news too much.

22 (desperation guess); no guess
I knew Alberta, just couldn't come up with the name.
Had heard of manic pixie dream girl and microaggressions (and got both), but not surrender cobra (but got facepalm).
Didn't really need to see the coin Friday.

I think this is a first-ever 8/8 for me outside of kids week and maybe a college week or two. Thanks for the birthday week present, J! Felt great to be able to watch a tiny bit for the first time since Feb., as we just moved back stateside. And even better to see Brandon be crowned a multi-day champ!

Also, Edelweiss was the first song my now-wife and I ever danced to, and it was also our first dance at our wedding. Would've been really embarrassing if that kept me from a 5/5!

Clicked the "0/3 on trendy modern words" even though I'd possibly heard of microagressions and MPDG before, but it was maybe once or twice.

Did not need the image on Friday

All green, and I recognized only microaggressions as something I'd heard of, though the clue would really have had to spell it out.

Where's the box for "I didn't see the prairie provinces clue because I was vacationing in Alberta when the show aired?"

Got everything except 451 and that one was a total face palm when I saw the answer.

My first 5/5 week in a long while...woot! :D

Got Friday's FJ (which I had to read off the web no thanks to my local station deciding to run a freakin' special about the upcoming Greenbrier Classic golf tournament instead of J!) off of '1959 musical' before seeing the coin.

Got microaggressions and have heard of 'surrender cobra', but 'manic pixie dream girl' was a completely new one to me as of the clue about it.

Ditto all of this.

Is this the easiest week of regular-play FJ!'s in JBoard history? Sixty votes in, and 45% of respondents have clicked the Box of Glory.

It's sitting just behind the weeks of 02/13/17 and 11/02/15, when 47% and 46% of respondents checked the 5/5 box, respectively. Right now the "toughest" of the five clues is polling at 78%, which breaks the current record of 76% set in the week of 12/23/13.

Count me among those who mixed up latitude and longitude. Also went Drew Barrymore on Monday, and she was not born in '72. Whoops.

Being Canadian I didn't miss the extra clues. Happy with that.

I hope I didn't screw up the polling by voting 2 or 3 times. I had tabs open and CRS (can't remember s**t) syndrome.

There's been a lot of good latitude/longitude chatter. The prime meridian = zero longitude was my validation TOM. I was sure that planting zones were latitude based (mostly) as well.

There are a surprising lot of references that should be tied to the latitude distinction, but aren't.
The 38th Parallel of Korean War fame didn't trigger a Pavlov, and I live very near to it. Neither was '54-40 or fight', or Tropics of Cancer, Capricorn, or Arctic/Antarctic circle.

Nobody whose read the game day discussions should ever be confused again with all the good tips.

I went with Drew Barrymore because of insider celeb connection and possibility of being alive and young. I think the clue should have said "infant" instead of child btw. My childhood Presbyterian church Christened infants and Baptized young teens if they accepted the brainwashing. If I knew celebrity ages, I'd have still been misled by the practice of the Catholic Church. Of course, I could watch a movie or read a book to get the answer as well
