Come on Alyssa, take a guess at Alex's weight since he opened the door.

The neg on gym teacher had me questioning when it happened, so when Alex announced a change in scoring I knew what was coming.

For the ballet pointe shoes I had toe shoes. Any difference?

Rich needs to work on his Pavlovs as Welsh poet is as basic as it gets and is certainly not Eliot. That was the difference between a lock and having to show up for the FJ! round.

Since the FJ! clue was such a joke and easy giveaway why not have Jeff Probst come out and give the clue?

I'm kind of wondering how come this isn't considered a "Kids Week" kind of FJ! This should have stayed on a Kids Week FJ! and should rather stick to some ToC-difficulty FJs on regular episodes.

Why must we continue to use "Kids Week" as a pejorative?

I just wanted to give mad props to Alyssa for using Dr. Apgar's first name in her response.

I wanna see Jeopardy! increase the difficulty for other competitions, like Kids Week, Teen Tournament, College Championship, and Teachers Tournament. This kind of clue should be great for a Kids Week challenge. Sure, some ToC-challenged and easy clues are fine, but I wanna see a tough challenge for the players.

Because they underestimate the kids (and the teens, and the college students...) and toss them softballs that are often insultingly easy even for that age group? If I call a FJ 'kids week' I'm not trying to insult the kids, just the material they were given.

And yeah, this FJ was a slam dunk. WECIB?

Anyone watch New Girl? Not sure what to think of the reversal.

"You pays your money"? What???

Also, I thought Filipino and Tagalog were the same thing. I got it right, but it gave me pause.

I thought that "cryptic" clue was cryptic. I guessed "obscure".

NHO "you pays your money" etc. etc.

"HTML" was easy to overthink. That "moves us"?

"Makes Sense" didn't make any sense, given all the TSes.

Was the Oscar Music category really that tough? B. J. Thomas was my only get.

Lach Trash: tagalog

No guess on FJ!

IIRC, the clue mentioned 'Greek for hidden', which is something like kryptos. Hence cryptic, cryptography ("hidden writing"), and also the element krypton.

FJ was definitely a WECIB - what other plural noun facial feature is positive?

Lach trash: Serpentine, Marquess of Queensbury (the father of modern boxing, hence why it makes sense for him to be with Mike Tyson), Samantha Who

INstaget. Happy to see a triple get on FJ after gameplay that even AT described as "dismal" at the reading of DJ cats. 44R.

Amazing to see the serial guessing. Ladies, if you don't recognize the clue reference then the likelihood of correctly responding at random = monkey's luck:
SpoilerShow
The monkeys could not randomly type merely the first 100 characters of Hamlet. If we count only lowercase letters and spaces (27 characters in all), then the probability of typing the 100 characters is one chance in 27 100 (one chance in 1.4×10 143). If each proton in the observable universe were a typing monkey (roughly 10 80 in all), and they typed 500 characters per minute (faster than the fastest secretary), around the clock for 20 billion years, then all the monkeys together could make 5×1096 attempts at the 100 characters. It would require an additional 3×1046 such universes to have an even chance at success. We scientifically conclude that the monkey scenario cannot succeed. For the scientist it would be perverse to insist otherwise.
Cleaned up on LT incl: *html, tagalog, redox reaction, ductile, Marquess of Queensbury Rules, Grover Cleveland (after Ben again), & Dylan Thomas' 1934 work; "Light Breaks Where No Sun Shines" a beautiful and disturbingly evocative image poesy.
SpoilerShow
Light breaks where no sun shines
Dylan Thomas, 1914 - 1953

Light breaks where no sun shines;
Where no sea runs, the waters of the heart
Push in their tides;
And, broken ghosts with glow-worms in their heads,
The things of light
File through the flesh where no flesh decks the bones.

A candle in the thighs
Warms youth and seed and burns the seeds of age;
Where no seed stirs,
The fruit of man unwrinkles in the stars,
Bright as a fig;
Where no wax is, the candle shows its hairs.

Dawn breaks behind the eyes;
From poles of skull and toe the windy blood
Slides like a sea;
Nor fenced, nor staked, the gushers of the sky
Spout to the rod
Divining in a smile the oil of tears.

Night in the sockets rounds,
Like some pitch moon, the limit of the globes;
Day lights the bone;
Where no cold is, the skinning gales unpin
The winter’s robes;
The film of spring is hanging from the lids.

I also had toe shoes for point shoes.

Learning your presidents in order is good practice for FJ as Rob might have gotten Cleveland if he had.

Yes, Dylan Thomas is Pavlov for Welsh writers thought I learned I know more of them than I thought, kicking myself for not pulling out Francis.

Simple FJ. I did consider freckles, but that would be a skin condition.

I'm thinking the change of score explaination in the first round kept us from seeing that top Presidential clue.

I'm amazed that they got as far as they did in the J round in spite of all the flailing and guessing. I had Susan pegged for a one-and-done champion at the start of the game and she proved me right. More than 70% of the game spent in the red, including the entire J! round, has to be some kind of futility record for a returning champion. I'm glad she got the B.J. Thomas rebound to give young whipper snapper Rich a little spanking.
I gotta give Rich some props for knowing "Starr" but I wonder if he was blanking on the QB's first name.

Got the Ductile LT and the Grover Cleveland DD.

The moment a category about Welsh writers came up, my precall was "Dylan Thomas and four other people"

On the July 14, 2006 episode, returning champ Eric Allen fell into the red after the second clue and stayed there for all but one of the remaining clues.
