Switzerland, no guess, Higgs boson.

Annoyed at myself for saying composite instead of rational.
Have not seen any Spencer Tracy movie, AFAIK. Didn't know there was a movie of The Old Man and the Sea.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

As a member of the Purdue faculty, I would be interested in knowing why those of you who chose it did so. I realize that it's not widely known to be a Land Grant school (most people think it's a private school) but what about the clue led you to Purdue?

Probably the boilermaker nickname/logo, which might have been clued by "steam".

Either something about me or something about the clues has resulted in my not having a guess for most of the FJ!'s I've missed lately. Not sure what that means, if anything.

Disappointing end to the season.

Liechtenstein in a coin flip over Andorra
No guess Wednesday or Friday.

Never saw The Old Man and the Sea.

If my geography was better, I'd have guessed Lichtenstein but I had no idea it was in the Alps so I guessed the only little European country that I knew was in the mountains.

I guessed Hopkins on Thursday because I knew he was a Brit, I knew he played Nixon once, and I had nobody better.

I had platypus on Friday just to say something Australian. One of the worst FJs ever IMHO. Bad category name, awkwardly written clue. It's a shame to end the season like that.

I was hoping to end the season with a 5/5 week but I had not even a guess yesterday. We have black swans where I live so they're not too unusual but when I was Down Under, I did see quite a few.

Said Bern on Tuesday (misread the clue), Inherit the Wind on Thursday, and the Tree of Life on Friday (a WAG). Also clammed on rational.

If anybody checks in with 5/5, I'll be very impressed since it looks like a 4/5 week will be rarefied air, which leads me to this question: how many times were there where nobody went 5/5 in a week? I know there was at least one from the week with the infamous flight simulator clue.

I would have had both A Chorus Line and rational in 30 seconds, but couldn't come up with them in five.

I am one of the few who did see The Old Man and the Sea once upon a time (in school, after we read the book), but it didn't help me.

The first place I ever played pub trivia was a bar in Perth that overlooked the Swan River.
