If you knew anything about the school, you would know why that association is such a good fit.
If anyone misses today's 3 pointer, they are kicked off of JBoard.

Or when being born in Merced gives one an advantage.... (actually, Castle AFB, but birth certificate reads Merced).cinemaniax7 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2017 1:22 pm Today is one of those rare days in the 21st century when being a Notre Dame fan pays off.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

The George Mason Law School was named for Antonin Scalia twice, actually. Initially they announced it as the Antonin Scalia School of Law (ASSOL). Realizing the unfortunate initials, it was renamed The Antonin Scalia Law School.

Don't kick me out. My guess was a complete WECIB.
I just saw an ad today for Scalia law school and I thought that is a good thing to note. Lucky me...I'll take it given the naked and dead category.
Good enough to lose on Jeopardy!

I think this may be the first summer hiatus challenge where I haven't had a perfect score day. The quiz is great and the scoring amazingly fair, but the difficulty of the harder questions has been creeping up.

Same. I have been one away a couple of times I believe but no perfect scores.
I guess this means that next year I should contribute some categories to cut my work in half.

Wow. I am duly impresssd. I was worried that the naked mole rat was too obscure for even a 15 point clue, but it's high get rate argues otherwise. Either it's a better known critter than I was hitherto aware or you all follow Science magazine's "vertebrate of the year" competition a lot more closely than I'd have guessed

I bet it's a lot better known - and really, who can forget it once seen - than "Naked Came the Stranger." Isn't there a PBS kids' show with a naked mole rat character, too?Woof wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2017 10:28 pm Wow. I am duly impresssd. The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

Some zoo I went to (Animal Kingdom at Disneyworld maybe?) had a naked mole rat exhibit where you went into a darkened room and their warren was displayed against a glass wall - ant farm style. It was fascinating and horrifying.Volante wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2017 10:51 pmKim Possible had a naked mole ratnlw44 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2017 10:46 pmI bet it's a lot better known - and really, who can forget it once seen - than "Naked Came the Stranger." In 1995, some of Florida's top fiction authors wrote a serialized novel titled "Naked Came the Manatee". Dave Barry wrote the first chapter: http://www.miamiherald.com/living/liv-c ... 23630.html

Re: Summer Hiatus Challenge 2017--Round 6 Instant Replay thread (SPOILERS)
I knew about the Dave Barry book, although I didn't remember the title, and thought about it when pondering the question. But it was, of course, much too late to be the answer anyway. Now I see where the title came from, but I still had no idea about the first book. I'm glad it was put in as a 9-pointer, don't get me wrong, since I lose fewer points that way. All the same, I'll be interested to see what the overall get rate is for that one vs. naked mole rat.Blue Lion wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2017 11:49 pmIn 1995, some of Florida's top fiction authors wrote a serialized novel titled "Naked Came the Manatee". And thanks to Volante about Kim Possible. Obviously, I remember the naked mole rat better than the name of the show.

I gave it a decent go for the top rookie spot, but unless tomorrow's categories are Dentistry and Professional Squash Players, pretty sure I can't catch foretopman anymore! Well done

Re: Summer Hiatus Challenge 2017--Round 6 Instant Replay thread (SPOILERS)
My "Ugh, Bronies" story of the day to share...
This week, I received a music recommendation for a dream pop band called Seapony. They aren't bad, but something about them wasn't adding up: different music websites and the band's Wikipedia entry had said they broke up in 2015, but their most recent release on Apple Music was dated to this year.
So, I searched for them on social media. As it turns out, a Twitter search for "Seapony" will inundate you with My Little Pony fan art, and maybe you'll find a few posts about the recently-reformed music group of the same name. The members of the band seem well aware of this fact.

Re: Summer Hiatus Challenge 2017--Round 6 Instant Replay thread (SPOILERS)
Apparently, Romeo and Juliet is the correct response. The opera is taking up space on my DVR, though I haven't got around to watching it yet. But thanks to the recording, I was able to make an educated guess on the Gounod opera based on a Shakespearean play.
On the other hand, I've seen both the Angela Lansbury stage recording and the Johnny Depp film version of Sweeney Todd and still wasn't able to make the connection with the song title. <*sigh*>
