Ouch! On second thought, can we argue about Kyrgystan some more?

Damn, I am from Maine and got that one wrong. I just thought in my head that since it was agreed both would become states as a part of the Missouri Compromise that they would have entered at the same time. Damn government, can never get anything done in a timely matter.

Similarly I thought part of the Kansas-Nebraska Act was to put them both on the rails toward statehood. Oh well. Between already being a guess, and trying to pick a different guess than everyone else's, this is… hard. Neat. :)

Thanks for hosting - and the delay just meant I got to spend more time in first place before the inevitable collapse (which somewhat surprisingly didn't prevent my first podium finish). :)

If only I had gone with my first instinct of Elizabeth Vargas on the 20/20 anchor (dismissed because I thought the current hosts would be too popular) - then Hugh would not have been the "Downs"-fall that kept me from winning.

Wow, 1st place! That was completely unexpected as I sheeped on the penultimate question.

After never getting in the top 10 for years, if I remember correctly my last 3 TDs were 1st, top ten, and 1st. I don't know what I'm doing differently. If anything, I'm sometimes picking answers that I think will be more popular.

Congrats!

I would think that was actually a really good question to sheep as, even in this knowledgeable group, you'd be hard pressed to find a person to come up with a North American independence day (or any other continent, really) other than Canada and US (and maybe Mexico), one of those two were gonna sheep. This also told me that it was a good question to break out some of my obscure trivia knowledge, like the independence dates of Panama, most of Central America (September 15), Cuba and Haiti (January 1, although I'm not 100% sure on Cuba), Jamaica (August 6, although it's celebrated the first Monday in August, unique in independence days), St. Lucia (February 22), Barbados (November 30), and Trinidad and Tobago (August 31).

Honestly, Canada and the US are the only ones I know, so this was a good learning experience for me.

I was kicking myself on the Mexico one because I knew it had been several days prior (because several people on my Facebook had been posting about how this was the real Mexican independence day and not Cinco de Mayo) but I couldn't remember exactly which day, and of course I wasn't going to cheat by looking back at their profiles.
