Wow, last place! In the first 5 questions I had 3 sheeps and 2 answers that were 2 points off the sheep.

Re: TD 360 - Taylor Made (Q1-Q5 revealed)
Here was my thought process - I was originally giving credit under the "last name" rule, but then there were some people who chose this question for their bonus and had first/last name for all other artists besides Bon Jovi (which led me to think that they meant the group - and one person sent me a clarification to admit they meant the group) so I treated those as incorrect. However, upon further review I will say that my poor pinning meant that just last name should be accepted and will reverse this error as well as adjust the affected bonus answers as well. I want this to be fun and not create controversy and so apologize for not thinking this through better before revealing results.merica wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2017 12:14 pmI agree that gamawire shouldn't be penalized here. Of course, I may have given the same answer as part of my bonus question so I may be a bit biased.1stlvlthinker wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2017 10:39 amYikes! I might have given credit for this answer, if only for the "Last name" rule.

Re: TD 360 - Taylor Made (Q1-Q5 revealed)
Truthfully, I did debate about whether it was him or them, and I believed the response of Bon Jovi should cover either possibility. Thanks for being lenient.clt013 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2017 2:17 pm

Yeah, I dithered over whether West Germany would be considered a different country and decided to play it safe by putting Germany, since that's how the country is known today.

Re: TD 360 - Taylor Made (Q1-Q8 revealed)
Side note: FIFA treats Cold War-era West Germany and post re-unification Germany as the same entity. In their records, it doesn’t say West Germany has won three World Cups and Germany has one; they say Germany has won four World Cups. It wouldn’t be consistent in that context to rule West Germany as a separate response from Germany for that question.Woof wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2017 10:53 amYeah, I dithered over whether West Germany would be considered a different country and decided to play it safe by putting Germany, since that's how the country is known today.

Thanks for researching that for me - now I am making a final decision to go back to what I had originally and combining the two under "Germany".9021amyers wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2017 11:44 amSide note: FIFA treats Cold War-era West Germany and post re-unification Germany as the same entity. I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

From the FIFA website - it has FRG on 1974.
I'm not worried about it though, because in the grand scheme of things the results of this TD don't mean much, and it's not as if I'm in position to win anyway.

Re: TD 360 - Taylor Made (Q1-Q8 revealed)
The 1974 tournament’s official name for historical purposes is the 1974 FIFA WORLD CUP GERMANY, and the event recap in FIFA archives goes out of its way to refer to the host nation as Germany, without the West distinction. Obviously, it’s a retroactive consideration, but it demonstrates FIFA’s assertion that West Germany and post-1990 Germany are one and the same.Wpwells wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2017 5:00 pm https://www.fifa.com/mm/document/fifafa ... 0-2022.pdf

Re: TD 360 - Taylor Made (Q1-Q11 revealed)
Hopefully no "Bon Jovi" or "Germany" situation today...
9. Taylor Dent is one of many male American tennis players who failed to win a major tournament during his career. Name any American man to have won a singles title at a Grand Slam event (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, US Open) in the Open era (since 1968). [12 possible answers]
A one-time major winner was the runaway sheep answer...

Appropriately enough for a question about magazine models, there was a nice "spread" of answers on this one…

Re: TD 360 - Taylor Made (Q1-Q11 revealed)
I can't believe I missed the Swimsuit question to knock myself out of contention. My answer didn't even fit the structure of the question in terms of number of letters in the name. RTDQ!
