It's halftime of the Lions game and I have this ready, so I'll post it now. The regular poll will be up at the usual time in a little less than two hours from now.
$400: The 4-hour “Long Strange Trip”
$800: “The Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Swindle” & “The Filth & the Fury”: the same punks
$1200: “Shut Up & Sing”, from a group not ready to make nice
$1600: “I’ll Be Me”, a country legend struggling with Alzheimer’s on a farewell tour
$2000: Time is Illmatic about the making of this rapper’s debut album
Correct responses: Spoiler
Grateful Dead
Sex Pistols
Dixie Chicks
Glen Campbell
Nas
Couldn't come up with Campbell's name and said Gene Watson instead.
Never heard of Nas.
Not seen any of the documentaries.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?
Don't recall positing guesses for the top two or Nas at the bottom - who I don't recall ever hearing of before the clue. Never seen any of the docs, but being a country music fan was good enough to get me a pair.
I know I've seen "I'll Be Me" (it was up for an Oscar last year). I might have seen "Shut Up and Sing" a while ago, but I'm not sure. I will more than likely see "Long Strange Trip" within the next few weeks (it's on the 2018 Oscar doc shortlist). I hadn't heard of "Time is Illmatic" but I know Illmatic is a Nas album.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.
I thought the last clue was Onepac. I've heard of Nas but I've never heard his music. I've seen both of the Sex Pistols films. I'd like to see the GD & GC docs.
It took me until Glen Campbell was revealed to even figure out what was going on. Documentaries about musicians. I’d heard of Campbell’s condition and knew that he was making a farewell tour.
I can now add “music doc” to my vocabulary, filed under things mostly useful for Jeopardy!
Haven't seen any of them. I knew the second one was the band Johnny Rotten was in (not PiL), but my stupid brain refused to come up with the name in time.
