I’m so old, I remember when the Red Sox didn’t win the World Series every couple of years.

.... and I'm old enough to remember when the Dodgers DID.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

It's probably also worth mentioning that the Red Sox' first-year manager, Alex Cora, is the first MLB manager from Puerto Rico to win a World Series.

Hey @Dodgers, the support group for back-to-back #WorldSeries losers meets on Tuesdays.

******
Nice zing!

I don't know how to do the proper showing for a tweet.

The back-to-back losses thing would be perfect if Sports J! was still around.

The Dodgers are only the 3rd team since 1964 to lose back to back World Series to different opponents. They can make even more history next year as it’s been nearly 100 years since a team lost two in a row but made it back a 3rd time.

Willie McCovey, San Francisco Giants Hall of Famer, has died at age 80. Tied for 20th in all-time home runs with Ted Williams and Frank Thomas. Rest in peace, Stretch; I'm glad I got to see you play.

Willie McCovey, Charlie Brown, and the hit-that-wasn’t in the 1962 World Series. Neither could forget it.

I'm fairly certain that will never come up as a J! clue.

The Elba/Bond connection or the People title?

For the magazine angle it's been a category at least four times. For the actor he's been in over a half dozen clues.

Like the Time Person of the year it's one of those yearly things that comes up. It's a silly pop culture thing while it never hurts to be aware who got the title since it can come up through various trivia avenues.

Whoever plays Bond next after Daniel Craig is definitely something for J!'s radar and not be ignored.

Sticking with that subject (From USA Today):

"Forever and a Day" by Anthony Horowitz (Harper, fiction, on sale Nov. 6)

What it’s about: Horowitz (“Magpie Murders”) continues the saga of James Bond in this prequel to Ian Fleming’s “Casino Royale,” an origin story that explains how the British secret agent became 007.

The buzz: This is Horowitz’s second Fleming estate-commissioned Bond novel; the first was 2015’s “Trigger Mortis.”

And someone also said Wrestlemania wouldn't come up as a clue and literally the next day...

Also, the Bond bit is more joke than clue material. Ask for a Luther movie if you want Idris Bond. Pretty close. Fewer gadgets, though.

I can quite get the wording of the joke right, but if Meg Ryan wasn't already considered a cougar, she will be soon, since she's engaged to John Mellencamp.

Let's hope he's finally found that lover who won't drive him crazy.
